After seeing the first look at the outcast young'un in Predator: Badlands' trailer, many fans worried about whether this would reach the glory of the Predators that have come before him. Now the first reactions to the movie are out, and Dan Trachtenberg, the director, it seems, has done a great job with the latest addition in the franchise.
The film will focus on a young Predator accompanied by a damaged but witty android named Thia, played by Elle Fanning. According to The Walt Disney Company,
"The newest entry in the Predator franchise is set in the future on a remote planet, where a young Predator, outcast from his clan, finds an unlikely ally in Thia (Fanning) and embarks on a treacherous journey in search of the ultimate adversary."
We will now see what the first reaction gives us. And rest assured, that is enough to pique your interest in watching the film.
What do the first reactions to Predator: Badlands say?

The First reactions are positive, and Twitter (now X) is rife with reviews and discussions.
According to a critic @LuminousDagger,
"PREDATOR: BADLANDS is the visual proof we need to crown Dan Trachtenberg the pioneer of the PREDATOR franchise. With each movie he continues to break the boundaries of what this franchise is capable of as he switches from an action/horror to a sci-fi/fantasy adventure."
Another user who watched the film, Amon Warmann, says of the film that,
"Predator: Badlands is friggin’ awesome. Inventive action, organic comedy, and a story I was fully invested in. Dan Trachtenberg continues to push all the right buttons with this franchise. Impressive."
Jake Hamilton, who was hesitant to watch the movie at first, wasn't disappointed when he finally saw it. His reaction on X says it all.
"P:B is another breath of fresh air in the series. A film as creative, bold and even violent as the original…but also surprisingly funny? Just give Dan the keys to the franchise."
Dan Trachtenberg's film is currently scheduled for release on November 7, 2025, in the US. It will be clashing with many films on the day, including Nuremberg, Die My Love, and more.
How have other Predator movies performed?

The franchise's glory days began in 1987 with the first film, when Arnold Schwarzenegger made the first Predator his prey. The film follows Dutch (Schwarzenegger), who, in a rainforest, encounters an unknown extraterrestrial threat that hunts for sport.
Its sequel, Predator 2 (1990), didn't sit well with the audience at the time but developed a cult following in the years to come. Predators (2010), which was released after two decades, was an improvement and took humans to a land inhabited by Predators.
The Predator (2018) came after that and became another critical failure in the franchise. It was Dan, who then gave the audiences Prey (2022) and Predator: Killer of Killers, and both became the highest-rated films in the franchise.
