Primitive War, written and directed by Luke Sparke, is an upcoming war drama set during the Vietnam War. However, it is part war film and part monster horror thriller about the threat of primordial dinosaurs.
Its logline, per IMDb, reads:
"Vietnam. 1968. A recon unit known as Vulture Squad is sent to an isolated jungle valley to uncover the fate of a missing Green Beret platoon. They soon discover they are not alone."
During this search, the soldiers face the threat of terrifying dinosaurs that complicate their rescue operation. That's why the film also becomes a survival thriller about these hardened men and women trying to escape the dangers. The film may not follow the actual incidents. Yet, it offers a thrilling account of brave soldiers, as described in Ethan Pettus's eponymous book.
Ryan Kwanten plays a central role in the cast along with Jeremy Piven and Tricia Helfer, among others. Sparke Films and Let it be Entertainment have backed this project, which will release this fall.
