Reality TV star Junior Edwards dies, grandson and co-stars remember 'Swamp People' star

Reality TV star Junior Edwards, who was known for his appearance on the History Channel’s show, Swamp People, is no more.

His grandson, “Lil” Willie Edwards, took to his Facebook account to announce the news. However, the date on which he died and the cause of his death have not been revealed. In a social media post shared on July 26, 2025, he wrote:

“Rest easy pawpaw….i know your probably running your hoop nets or doing something crazy inside those pearly gates…you will be extremely missed pawpaw we love you more than anything!!! Until we meet again.”

Earlier in July 2025, Willie shared a health update on Junior Edwards on his Facebook account:

"he has been dealing with some health issues…Yall keep him in yalls thoughts and prayers please…we need a miracle. Get better for us papa we love you!!!”

Tributes pour in as reality TV star Junior Edwards dies

The recent passing of reality TV star Junior Edwards has sparked an outpouring of emotional tributes from his co-stars, fans, and family.

“The world lost a legend! Mr Junior Edwards passed away! Please be in prayer for the family! He was one of the greatest alligator hunters there is! He was real hardcore outdoorsman! I watched this man bring in MONSTER gators at Duffys Gas Station in Pierre Part LA."

The post continued:

"This was after a looooong day for both of us and you can tell it! Glad we took a second for a pic!” Ashley “Deadeye” Jones, another cast member from Swamp People wrote on Instagram.

“My good friend Junior Edwards of Swamp People passed away this morning after a long bout with Cancer.” A friend of Edwards wrote on X.

“Praying for the Edwards Family!!! May you rest in peace Junior.”

Ronnie Adams, one of the members of Swamp People, wrote on Facebook.

“RIP Junior Edwards. One of the original legends from Swamp People. A true bayou icon gone too soon.” A user on X added.

“When anyone wants to know what a true Louisianian is, I could always point to Junior Edwards. The epitome of Louisiana. Hard working, do anything for anybody, and loved the swamp and everything it gives us. RIP Junior.” Someone else on X commented.

“I like to send my condolences to the Edwards family R.IP Junior Edwards from Swamp People gone but not forgotten.” A person added.

According to a report in TMZ, Edwards appeared on the History Channel docuseries during its first series in 2010. After appearing in over 100 episodes, from Season 1 to Season 6, he left the show in 2015.

He returned in 2021 for Season 12. Season 16 aired in April this year and is expected to return in 2026.
