Photographer and filmmaker Rory Kramer uploaded a social media post on December 1, celebrating his late son, Daniel Thomas Kramer's, third birthday. The post opened up on the subject of grief, with Rory explaining how losing someone can be the hardest thing to deal with.

"Grief isn’t just emotion, it’s also neurological. You lose a person, a routine, a sense of safety, a future you imagined. Your brain has to rebuild pathways that included them. The rebuilding hurts like emotional surgery."

Rory added that answering the question of whether he has children when asked by people feels awkward to him, explaining:

"There’s times I have said no and then didn’t understand why I said that, because I do have a child. There’s times I say yes and watch the other person become uncomfortable."

Rory ended the note on a hopeful note, saying he's trying to focus on positive things, like holding his son and seeing himself in his son, even if just for fifty-two minutes.

The caption of the post read:

"Happy Heavenly Birthday to our son Daniel Thomas Kramer. 12.1.22"

Rory Kramer opens up about losing his son, Daniel

Rory Kramer and his wife, Amy Kramer, welcomed their son Daniel on December 1, 2022. Sadly, Daniel passed away just fifty-two minutes after birth. The news was first shared on Rory's social media. Sharing the moments he spent with his son, he wrote at that time:

"When I got over to his little bed, I looked down and the little guy has his hand in a shaka 🤙🏼. And I thought to myself…that’s my son ! I placed the tip of my finger in the palm of his hand and his whole body moved out of reaction to my finger. It was life changing."

He added:

"We are so blessed and grateful for the time we had to stare at him, kiss him, and hold him in our arms. He was perfect. Tiny little hands. Big goofy feet. And Rory’s face. We wish you could have met him."

Wishing their son a third birthday, Amy Kramer also posted an Instagram story, sharing a post she shared last year, writing:

"We miss you more than life."

Rory Kramer and Amy got married in 2020. Sharing the first photos from the wedding, Amy wrote:

"You are the light of my life ♥️ my heart is forever yours"
