Netflix's Ruth & Boaz is the latest romantic drama that is trending on the streaming platform. Inspired by a story from the Old Testament, the film explores the love story of Ruth, who escapes the Atlanta music scene to take care of an elderly woman. While there, she ends up meeting the love of her life, and a newer purpose as she finds everything she was chasing.
The film has it's roots in biblical narratives, as it's a part of Tyler Perry's deal with Netflix where he is producing faith-centric films for the streaming giant. Adapted as a modern version of a beloved biblical story, the film spins the story into a newer narrative, while keeping the original's soul intact.
An important part of the film is it's music, as it sets the tone for the premise as we watch Ruth and Boaz fall in love. Here's the soundtrack guide you need for the film, that features every song included in Ruth & Boaz.

More details about Ruth & Boaz
Tyler Perry and Devon Franklin bring the timeless story of Ruth and her lover Boaz into the modern era with Ruth & Boaz, now streaming on Netflix. This contemporary retelling, directed by Alanna Brown and penned by Michael Elliot and Cory Tynan, blends faith, love, and music into a heartfelt narrative.
The cast brings depth and charm to the story. Serayah McNeill shines as Ruth, while Tyler Lepley embodies Boaz, a refined yet rugged vineyard owner whose quiet strength complements Ruth’s energy. Phylicia Rashad stars as Naomi, whose grief slowly gives way to trust and acceptance. Supporting roles include Walnette Santiago, Nijah Brenea and James Lee Thomas.
Talking about the film, director Alanna Brown said:
“Usually with a love story, the main character meets their love interest within the first 10 minutes of the film. This script was crafted such that the person Ruth meets around minute 10 is actually Naomi. The Ruth and Naomi love story is set up to be just as important as the Ruth and Boaz love story. Ultimately, it’s Naomi who leads Ruth to Boaz, so those two pieces are woven together.”
At its core, the film explores not just romantic love, but also the bonds that guide us, like the relationship between Ruth and Naomi, which shapes Ruth’s journey and ultimately leads her to Boaz.
Ruth & Boaz is now streaming on Netflix.
