Ice Spice is set to feature in the upcoming animated film, The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants. The film, which is the fourth film of the SpongeBob SquarePants franchise, is going to feature Ice Spice as a fish who works at the Bikini Bottom High School.

The inclusion of Ice Spice in the upcoming comedy movie has triggered debates among netizens, with some claiming Ice Spice is not age-appropriate to be featured in the movie, while others were happier for the singer.

"She’s not appropriate for kids.."
"So freaking cute and pretty. I’m genuinely so happy for you, Ice Spice. You’ve worked so hard and deserve every bit of love, success, and recognition coming your way." one netizen stated.
"Ice spice is Gon be featured in the new SpongeBob square pants.. it's gonna be catastrophic.." another netizen stated.
"all respect to ms spice but her music is far from spongebob appropriate." one commenter opined.
"holy f**k spongebob fell off......the moment you start adding untalented self-proclaimed "artists" to your movies then you're really falling into the sad desperate era." one reactor said.
"This might be the most random casting since the first movie, and I am completely here for it." another reactor stated.

The upcoming role is not the first time Ice Spice has branched out to other media. The singer previously starred in the action film Highest 2 Lowest, which is inspired by Akira Kurosawa's High and Low.

The singer starred as Marisol Capeda, an office worker employed by David King, played by the lead actor of the film, Denzel Washington. The role was mostly a cameo, and when the role was announced, it was met with some backlash from netizens.

Ice Spice releases a song for The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants

Spice has released a song for The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants. The track is titled Big Guy. The track is set to be part of the movie's soundtrack. The track is also the singer's newest single of the year.

Previously, the singer has also released the solo singles Pretty Privilege and Baddie Baddie, as well as the collaborative single with Latto, Gyatt. She also released the single Hannah Montana, which is a collaboration with NLE Choppa and DaBaby.

The singer talked about her creative process in an exclusive interview with Rolling Stone on June 20, 2025:

"I usually get into the studio and pull up some beats that I already know that I kind of vibe with, and I like to just start coming up with the top line. And once I come up with the first line, I usually just move on into the hook and I build slowly from there."

The singer later added:

"Everything kind of changes a little bit slowly throughout the years, but, it’s pretty consistent. Or, like, I have things that I do that I’m comfortable with. I take a lot of breaks in between recording songs. So I don’t just, sit and go through it. I get up, do things, eat, or whatever, and then come back to it the next day."

The singer released her debut studio album, Y2K!, on July 26, 2024. The album is her debut album and features collaborations with Travis Scott, Central Cee, and Gunna.
