Michael B. Jordan's forthcoming film Sinners comes with a soundtrack that looks promising and stellar.

Composed by Ludwig Göransson, the film has an original score that is scheduled to be released by Sony Masterworks and Sony Classical on April 18, 2025, on the day of the film's release.

Along with the film's score, we also have songs that Göransson has jointly created with musicians including Rod Wave, James Blake, Lola Kirke, and many others. The song album shall also release on the same day.

However, two tracks of the film have already been released.

Directed and written by Ryan Coogler, the film follows the story of twin brothers Smoke and Stack (played by Michael B. Jordan), who are striving to put behind their past and begin their lives afresh. The story takes place in the American South of the 1930s, and the film is being billed as a supernatural action thriller. Göransson's composition is expected to complement the generic vibes of Sinners.

The official logline of the film as per the website of Warner Bros. reads:

Trying to leave their troubled lives behind, twin brothers (Jordan) return to their hometown to start again, only to discover that an even greater evil is waiting to welcome them back.

In an interview with Variety, composer Ludwig Göransson has spoken in detail about the soundtrack of the film. He has discussed the creative process as well as the thought process that went behind producing the music. He explains why the movie's score has been the most "personal" creative experience in his career, saying:

“The score I composed for ‘Sinners’ is the most personal of my career. It’s a reflection of my own musical journey, told through the voice of the instrument that means the most to me. I perform it on a 1932 Dobro Cyclops resonator—the very same guitar that Preacherboy Sammie carries throughout the film.”

The Grammy-winning composer also talks about the influence of the blues genre of music in the making of the film's music, as he points out:

“The fingerprints of the blues are present in virtually all popular music that has existed since, and we wanted the music of ‘Sinners’ to reflect that. Beyond feeling raw and lived in, we wanted it to be firmly rooted in its true origin story.”

Göransson further elaborates that the intention was not necessarily to go down memory lane. He says:

“We weren’t aiming for nostalgia; we wanted it to feel immediate. Much of the music was written and recorded on set during the shoot, with the cast and crew working alongside us. That process gave the film a sound that’s connected to the past, alive in the moment. This is the music story of ‘Sinners.’”

Both of the albums are slated to be released on April 18, 2025.

However, the two released songs of the film are already available on mainstream platforms such as Spotify and Apple Music. You can pre-save the forthcoming score album on Spotify now before its release as well, which reads as, Sinners (Original Motion Picture Score).
