Somebody tell the Stranger Things fans that there is no 9th episode of season 5. It ended with Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower) dying with his head chopped off and Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) vanishing with the Bridge. She may be alive or not. That is up to us to believe.

But whatever you believe, don't believe that there's another secret episode hiding somewhere on Netflix. Many have done that, and it reportedly crashed the platform, as noted by this user on Twitter (now X).

"CONFORMITY GATE CRASHED NETFLIX LMFAOO," his post reads, as you can see below.

Though there is something that you shouldn't miss, which is a documentary on the show's final season called One Last Adventure: The Making of Stranger Things 5, coming to Netflix on January 12, 2026.

The last season of the show came with three release windows, where the final one dropped on December 31, 2025, called Chapter Eight: The Rightside Up. Currently, that's sitting with an IMDb rating of 7.7 stars.

What happened in the final episode of Stranger Things?

The final episode ended with both a bang and a disappointment. We will talk about the latter first.

It was disappointing because the last battle wasn't that intense, and it ended in the middle of the episode. The Mind Flayer and Vecna, both of them gone in a jiffy. The former was barbecued by the Hawkins crew, and the latter ended up on a Mind Flayer's tooth. Add those literal cutthroat blows by the angry mother.

Then came the ambiguous part of the show, where Eleven decided to honor her dead sister's wish and chose to stay with the Bridge as it vanished. While the last episode was called The Rightside Up, it should've been called 'The Vanishing of Jane Hopper.'

Now, for the banger part, of course, that battle in Stranger Things was short-lived, but it was a cinematic spectacle anyway. Especially when the real Mind Flayer came to life. After that, we still had an hour to wrap things up, which the show executed perfectly.

That includes Steve Harrington (Joe Keery), Nancy Wheeler (Natalie Dyer), Jonathan Byers (Charlie Heaton), and Robin Buckley (Maya Hawke) getting along and making plans to meet up every month. That is one part of Stranger Things that is going to give you a great deal of nostalgia, because we've all done that with our friends.

And then there was the final speech by the valedictorian, Dustin Henderson (Gaten Matarazzo), which might give you fantasies about doing something like that when you graduate (if you haven't already).

However, it was truly at the end of Stranger Things, when everyone is playing Dungeons and Dragons, with Mike Wheeler (Finn Wolfhard) assuming the role of Dungeon Master, when things get really emotional. He didn't want to believe that Eleven died, so he crafted a story that gave us a look into everyone's potential future. And then, we all believed that she had found a land with three waterfalls.
