"Strictly Friends": Christine Baranski denies dating rumors with co-star King Princess

The Big Bang Theory star, Christine Baranski, and Make My Bed singer, King Princess, who are co-stars in the TV series Nine Perfect Strangers, were spotted on August 18, 2025, holding hands on the red carpet at the Broadway gala premiere of Mamma Mia! at New York’s Winter Garden Theatre.

Their appearance together has sparked rumors of a relationship among fans and netizens. The rumors were, however, put to rest by Christine’s representative in a statement to E! News on August 22. They said:

''Christine and King Princess are strictly friends and nothing more. They have never been in a relationship, nor are they now.''

King and Christine’s friendship grew closer while filming the second season of Nine Perfect Strangers, and their recent hand-in-hand outing has fueled fresh relationship rumors. King Princess also posted pictures of the two on her Instagram handle and captioned them:

''#loveislove''

This further fueled the rumors. During a conversation for Interview Magazine in May, Baranski opened up about her friendship with King. She said:

''We were connected somehow. There was an unspoken mind meld happening. It didn’t need to be voiced. We’ve curiously bonded and want to remain friends.

She also added, saying that the greatest gift she got from shooting the series was King, who was young, talented, witty, and opinionated. Recalling their hangout, she said:

''We actually got dressed up and finally had dinner,” she recalled of their hang. “I remember we went to this chic, French-y watering hole. We sat at the bar, ordered our martinis, and suddenly we’re talking about our grandmothers who deeply affected and influenced our lives. I think that’s where we profoundly bonded.''

Baranski was married to actor Matthew Cowles from 1983 until his passing in 2014. Together, they had two daughters: Isabel, a lawyer, and Lily Cowles, an actor recognized for her roles in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Roswell.

On the other hand, King dated The Hunger Games star, Amandla Stenberg, in 2018. She then dated the creative director of rapper and singer Lizzo, Quinn Wilson, in 2019, and they split by the end of 2023.

Baranski currently stars in the historical TV series The Gilded Age, in which she plays the role of Agnes van Rhijn. She also stars in season 2 of the series Nine Perfect Strangers. King has announced her third studio album, titled Girl Violence, which is set to be released on September 12, 2025.
