Taylor Sheridan wrote a script for a movie called F.A.S.T. during the mid-2010s, and now it's finally being made into a movie. The Hollywood Reporter first published the news, and now it's set for a release on April 23, 2027, in theaters. Though it was first thought of as a better streaming option, it was then decided to give it a theatrical run.
Brandon Sklenar is currently the only member of the cast for the film who has also worked before with Taylor Sheridan on his Yellowstone spin-off called 1923, which ran between 2022 and 2025. Brandon played Spencer Dutton in it, with veteran actors Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren as Jacob Dutton and Cara Dutton.
Warner Bros. acquired the project first in 2018, but things didn't work out, and then the pandemic hit, so it partially affected the development. Now Warner Bros. has reacquired it, and things seem to move forward much more smoothly for F.A.S.T. now. Warner Bros.'s Michael De Luca and Pam Abdy said about the people involved in the project that,
"With the hugely talent director Ben Richardson behind the camera and the exceptional producing talents of Heyday Films and Bosque Ranch, we are thrilled to have such an incredible creative team bringing F.A.S.T. to the big screen."
As for Ben Richardson, the director, he is a part of the Sheridan universe too, as he has been a part of Yellowstone, 1883, and 1923, where he worked as a cinematographer.
The deal for the film is still being finalized, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Sheridan still holds a deal with Paramount, where his shows are running, which is likely to cause a delay for F.A.S.T., as Sheridan is also a producer of the film alongside the writer.
Additionally, the film is said to have a budget much less than $65 million, something that was set before.
For the story, F.A.S.T. is described (via IMDb) as,
"A former U.S. special forces officer is recruited by the government's Drug Enforcement Agency to lead a take down drug dealers who are protected by the CIA."
Here's a look at what Taylor Sheridan has worked on before F.A.S.T. comes out

Taylor's directorial debut came in 2011 with a horror movie called Vile. However, he doesn't consider it as his directorial debut. For this, he said,
"I would say this [Wind River] is my feature debut. A friend of mine raised — I don't know what he raised — 20 grand or something, and cast his buddies, and wrote this bad horror movie, that I told him not to direct."
Before Wind River (2017), which stars Jeremy Renner and Elizabeth Olsen, he was a writer for Sicario (2015) and Hell or High Water (2016). He also wrote the former's sequel later in 2018.
His television journey took off after 2018 when he created Yellowstone, which later gave birth to spin-offs 1883 and 1923. Between these spin-offs, he also created Mayor of Kingstown, which is an ongoing show. Other than that, he has created Tulsa King, Lioness, and Landman.
