NLE Choppa took to social media to address a concerning five-year-old tweet about dying by suicide after it resurfaced. The singer stated in the X post on December 7, 2025, in response to a post by X user shawniss, which showcased the aforementioned old post where he mentioned taking his own life:

"I see this post always resurfacing. Just want to be vocal, I was seriously preparing to bring demise upon myself and for those who have a similar battle I am living testament to keep going, push through your trials, triumph awaits you ! The best thing I never did was take my life."

The original suicide post was made in March 2020. The singer stated in that post:

"Imma Kill Myself The Last Day Of December 2020 Y’all Better Enjoy Me While Y’all Can. My music gone live for me Imma be with yall. I promise. My music gon let you know everything you need to know. Love y'all."

Soon after that, NLE Choppa's daughter was born in June 2020, which apparently helped with his mental health. The singer posted a message on social media saying he would not commit suicide soon after the birth of his daughter.

NLE Choppa talked about his 2020 suicide tweet in an interview with Vlad TV in 2022

In 2022, NLE Choppa elaborated on his 2020 tweet in an exclusive interview with Vlad TV, stating that he was dead serious at the time. Later on, he elaborated on his mental state at the time he posted the tweet:

"I was dead serious... you can have everything you want but if you don't have nothing you need, you're gonna crash and burn. And I had everything I wanted... but if you don't love yourself, if you don't have care within yourself, love within yourself, respect within yourself."

NLE Choppa added:

"You can be good hearted, you can be a good person and not love yourself. I had the tendency to love others, to love other things more than I love myself...I was just exhausted. Drugs was getting the best of me. Weed was heavy.. I was overusing it, oversmoking it.

The singer went on to state that the 2020 tweet was one of his lowest points and that things couldn't have gotten lower than that. He also said he was crying and praying to God around that time, wondering why he felt that way even though he had everything he wanted.

Later, he said that God answered his prayer at that time and helped him realize that he wasn't doing positive things in his career then. He ended the interview by saying he wanted to feel grateful for his future successes. He also mentioned that he found meditation helpful in quitting smoking, avoiding bad influences, and changing his diet.

Later on in 2024, the singer revealed in an appearance with Bobi Althoff on her The Really Good Podcast that he had indeed attempted to kill himself, after Althoff revealed she had attempted suicide at the age of 14.

In that same appearance, he emphasised that celebrities and people who are successful do go through the same mental health struggles as the rest of the world.

NLE Choppa recently released his children's book, Cricket Stop Cricking. The book is his first foray into the literary world, and the singer released it in the hopes of promoting literacy among children.
