The Devil Wears Prada 2 has added a Bridgerton actress to its star-studded cast: Find out who

The Devil Wears Prada 2 has been in development for a year, and it will be released next year. Since the film's announcement, new faces have joined the cast, and now another name has reportedly been added to this list: Simone Ashley, according to Deadline. Recently, she was seen in the sports drama film F1 alongside actors Brad Pitt, Javier Bardem, and more.

Simone's breakthrough came with Bridgerton (2022–present), where she is in the main role as Kate Sharma. Other than that, she has appeared in TV shows like Sex Education (2019–2021), Doctors (2018), Casualty (2019), and more.

For movies, Ashley Simone has appeared in 9 different roles so far. She made her feature film debut with the 2018 romantic comedy Boogie Man and then appeared in two more films, Kill Ben Lyk and Sparrow, in the same year. The following year, she appeared in Detective Pikachu. Recently, other than F1, she portrayed the main character, Pia, in Picture This, which is based on an Australian film called Five Blind Dates.

Now it isn't clear what role she will be playing, but the film's Wikipedia page says she will be playing Miranda's new first assistant. Meryl Streep played the icy diva Miranda, who is the main character in this story, in the original film. It is believed that Vogue's Anna Wintour is the major inspiration behind her character.

The original film was a critical and commercial success, churning positive reviews, as Rotten Tomatoes shows (75% critics' approval) and making $326 million against its $35–41 million budget.

Although the plot hasn't been officially confirmed, reports suggest that the story will unfold as a cold war between two fashion powerhouses—Miranda Priestly and her former assistant, Emily. Now a rising star in the industry, Emily has become Miranda’s rival, setting the stage for a stylish showdown. Fittingly, Emily is played by Emily Blunt, reprising her fan-favorite role from the original film. Currently, the film's premise (via IMDb) reads,

"Follows Miranda Priestly's struggle against Emily Charlton, her former assistant turned rival executive, as they compete for advertising revenue amidst declining print media while Miranda nears retirement."

In the first film, we saw Anne Hathaway's Andy replacing Emily as Miranda's assistant and turning into the very breed of people she once hated, as her boyfriend Nate (Adrian Grenier) makes her realize this.
