Plot details about The Devil Wears Prada
The Devil Wears Prada focuses on a newly graduated girl named Andrea Sachs, aka Andy (Anne Hathaway). She joins a fashion magazine as a personal assistant to its editor-in-chief, Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep). Slowly, Andy realises how demanding and ruthless Miranda is. The character is based on Vogue Magazine's editor, Anna Wintour.
How does The Devil Wears Prada end?

The Devil Wears Prada showcases Andy finding out that Miranda will be getting replaced as the magazine's editor by Jacqueline Follet (Stephanie Szostak). She tries to warn Miranda, but the latter is already aware of it. Miranda used her influence in the industry to ensure that James Holt offered Jacqueline a hefty sum for his new organization.
She was aware that this would make her unavailable for a position in Runaway. After this was done, Miranda spoke to Irv Ravitz to make her continue as the editor. The makers revealed that Miranda had a list of people in the magazine would were willing to leave if she left the organization. She uses this list as a weapon to retain her position.
Nigel informs Andy that James Holt has offered him a new position, and it was made possible after Miranda's effort. However, after Miranda's own job is threatened, she pushes Jacqueline for a position at Holt. Despite this setback, Nigel remains a supporter of Miranda. He was shocked after Miranda announced Jacqueline's name, but he couldn't do much.
Meanwhile, Andy starts feeling uneasy in her personal life due to Miranda. After seeing what happened to Nigel, Andy becomes more confused and decides to quit the job. The exact moment happens when Miranda tells Andy that she sees herself in Andy. This is followed by Andy throwing away her phone and leaving the magazine.
Miranda tells the editor of the New York Mirror to hire Andy. It is in contrast with their relationship so far. Miranda was always critical of Andy, but in the end, her perception changed. Towards the end, she sees Andy across the street and smiles. The smile was probably because of the way Andy left her job. She gave importance to her self-respect over the salary. This was the opposite of how Miranda was behaving and using others to save her job.
Its sequel is expected to take the narrative forward with its leads returning for their roles.
