Months after its release, The Fantastic Four: First Steps is finally getting its physical release, and the new format of Marvel's first addition to the sixth phase comes with its own major wins. Like most physical releases, The Fantastic Four: First Steps' new version will have five exclusive additional scenes from the film that were deleted from the theatrical cut.
Although it's not yet confirmed what the scenes will consist of, we do have the scene titles that can give fans a little hint at what they could look forward to in the physical copy. The new scenes included are:
Thanksgiving Soup Kitchen
Fantastic Four Day
Subterranea
Birthday Sweater
Taking Turns
Director Matt Shakman has previously opened up about the film's deleted scenes, as he told Collider,
"We intentionally wrote and shot a lot more than we ended up using, or needing to use, for their past. There's a ton of stuff that you've seen probably bits and pieces of — a tour of the Baxter building, or Reed's Mr. Fantastic Show, or even Ben on the dating game.
Apart from that, the film will also have plenty of featurettes. One of these explores the team’s journey from comic book icons to Marvel’s “First Family” on screen. Matt Shakman and the cast share how they built the family dynamic, while “Fantastic Futurism” showcases the film’s retro-futuristic sets and style. “From Beyond and Below” highlights adapting Galactus, Mole Man, and Silver Surfer. Fans can also enjoy an audio commentary with Shakman and production designer Kasra Farahani for behind-the-scenes insight.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps will hit digital platforms on September 23, on Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, and Fandango at Home. It will then be released in 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD on October 14.
