The Fantastic Four: First Steps introduces Marvel's First Family into the Marvel Cinematic Universe for the first time. The film is released in theaters on July 25, 2025, and introduces Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Johnny Storm, and Ben Grimm in a retro-futuristic 1960s-inspired universe.

Pedro Pascal portrays Mister Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby the Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn the Human Torch, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach the Thing. Ralph Ineson narrates Galactus, a cosmic entity threatening Earth. Directed by Matt Shakman, the movie lasts for an hour and fifty-five minutes and is rated PG-13 for action, violence, and a bit of language, per Rotten Tomatoes.

The film represents a new era for Marvel's constant universe-building and leads the way for future introductions of the Fantastic Four. Its theatrical run over, Marvel is now gearing up for the home release of the film. The digital release of The Fantastic Four: First Steps is slated for late September 2025, as per Entertainment Weekly and USA Today.

It will be followed by physical releases in October and a Disney+ debut scheduled in November, which will be in line with Marvel's strategy for the release of big projects.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps digital release date and platforms

The digital release of The Fantastic Four: First Steps is slated for September 23, 2025. As per Collider and USA Today, the movie will go on sale and rent on Apple TV, Amazon, Fandango at Home, and Prime Video. The digital release comes almost two months after the theatrical release, providing viewers who did not catch the cinema release a first chance to watch the movie at their convenience.

Additionally, the digital release features deleted scenes and featurettes. According to Collider, the bonus features will encompass unseen family-oriented moments and glimpses into the retro-futuristic world. Commentary tracks and behind-the-scenes footage are also included in the package, with a deeper insight into the production process.

Physical release and bonus content from The Fantastic Four: First Steps

After the digital release, The Fantastic Four: First Steps will come out on physical media on October 14, 2025. Media options include 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD, reports DVD Release Dates. The special features for these releases will be the same as the digital one, with some additions such as a gag reel and collectibles.

Deleted scenes involve more scenes with Sue Storm and the Mole Man. Director Matt Shakman's commentary adds more insight to character development and creative decision-making. Per ComicBookMovie, the extras are meant to give fans more background on how Marvel has handled the Fantastic Four and their position within the MCU.

Disney+ streaming timeline

Following the digital and physical releases, The Fantastic Four: First Steps will have its subscription streaming premiere on Disney+. It is expected to drop mid-to-late November 2025, as reported by Koimoi and Jang.

This is based on Marvel's pattern release, which saw movies like Thunderbolts and Captain America: Brave New World surface on Disney+ roughly two to three months following their digital releases.

The release timing coincides with the holiday period, which has been a peak time for Disney+ debuts. The move enables Marvel movies to be made widely accessible to streamers after the primary buy and rent phases. For subscribers, this will be the initial time they can watch the film without paying extra for it aside from their Disney+ subscription.
