On the red carpet premiere of The Fantastic Four: First Steps, Joseph Quinn revealed that the one character he wants The Human Torch/Johnny Storm to team up with is Spider-Man. It must be noted that a team-up with Spidey is something Quinn is hoping for, as a Marvel fan.
While movie viewers would find a potential team-up between The Human Torch and Spider-Man intriguing, fans of the comics will celebrate it. Johnny and Peter are the unlikeliest of friends because Johnny was a playboy in the beginning, and Peter was and continues to be an awkward geek. But his friendship with Peter brought a new dimension to Johnny's character.
Thus, learning that even Joseph Quinn wants a team-up with Spider-Man after The Fantastic Four: First Steps has fans excited.
What did The Fantastic Four: First Steps' Joseph Quinn say?
As mentioned before, Quinn had attended a premiere of The Fantastic Four: First Steps, where the actor was interviewed by Discussing Film. The interviewer asked Quinn which hero he wanted The Human Torch to collaborate with, to which, the actor responded:
"Absolutely, that would be amazing! Tom's performance as Peter Parker is…he's the best Spider-Man ever, so that would be…that'd be awesome, yeah."
While we may not get a solo adventure headlined by Spider-Man and The Human Torch, we may get a team-up in next year's Avengers: Doomsday. This would draw all the fans who have read the Spider-Man and The Human Torch team-ups in the pages of Marvel Comics over the years. But it must be noted that until now, both of these characters have stayed separate on the big screen due to rights issues.
Considering Marvel can use both Spider-Man and Fantastic Four, a team-up between the wall crawler and The Human Torch is possible. However, we have to wait for a while. But until then, we have to wait for just a week to learn how the Fantastic Four crossover to the MCU Earth as the post-credit scene of Thunderbolts* suggested.
What is The Fantastic Four: First Steps about?
We know that The Fantastic Four: First Steps is set on a separate Earth than the usual Earth-616. Instead, this movie is set on Earth-828, an idealistic, 1960s-inspired retro-futuristic Earth. Turns out the Fantastic Four are the only heroes on this Earth, unlike the mainline MCU 616 counterpart. While the four enjoy popular support worldwide on Earth-828, their popularity may wane in the course of First Steps.
The waning popularity might be because of the four refusing to hand over Reed and Sue's newborn son, Franklin, to the movie's main antagonist, Galactus. Thus, the Fantastic Four have to come up with a solution to thwart Galactus's threat without endangering Franklin.
First Steps releases in cinema halls across the world on July 25, 2025.
