The final trailer for Yorgos Lanthimos’ Bugonia starring Emma Stone and Jesse Plemons is released

The final trailer for Bugonia, directed by Yorgos Lanthimos and starring Emma Stone and Jesse Plemons, has been released. The film was initially released in Venice on August 28, 2025, but will be released in theaters in America on October 24, 2025.

It is an absurdist science fiction comedy film that follows the abduction of a CEO by two men who mistakenly believe she is an alien. Emma Stone stars as Michelle Fuller, the woman who gets kidnapped. The trailer of the upcoming film opens with Michelle saying,

"I am a high-profile corporate executive."

This first statement and the next few scenes tell us that she's an ambitious woman, but things take a turn when Teddy, a beekeeper, abducts her.

About Yorgos Lanthimos' Bugonia starring Emma Stone

The film is a remake of the 2003 Korean film Save the Green Planet! by Jang Joon-hwan. From the trailer itself, one can tell that Teddy and Don believe Michelle to be an alien and want to get a confession from her stating that. Michelle is clueless as to what these two men want since it is not ransom they are after. Besides, in the trailer, it looks like they don't even hurt Michelle; they just shave off her hair, most likely to make her look like an alien (since they believe her to be one).

As the trailer continues, we see that Teddy and Don not only think Michelle is an alien but also think her kind is killing the planet, and they need to stop them. When they keep pressing Michelle to say it on record that she's an alien, Michelle finally gives in and says it, but Teddy isn't convinced because, as he puts it,

"You didn't even say it in your own language."

Teddy was sure that Michelle would speak in some alien language, and that would be his key evidence towards proving that she isn't human. But that doesn't happen. She does say she's an alien from outer space just to appease her abductors, but in English. A small snippet of the trailer also shows her escaping the place where she was held while kidnapped.

Two conspiracy obsessed young men kidnap the high-powered CEO of a major company, convinced that she is an alien intent on destroying planet Earth.

Bugonia stars Emma Stone as Michelle Fuller, Jesse Plemons as Teddy, Aidan Delbis as Don, Stavros Halkias as Casey, and Alicia Silverstone as Sandy. Plemons has also narrated the film. Bugonia's screenplay is written by Will Tracy, and the film is produced by Ed Guiney, Andrew Lowe, Yorgos Lanthimos, Emma Stone, Ari Aster, Lars Knudsen, and Miky Lee. The production companies behind the film are Square Peg, CJ ENM, Fruit Tree Enterprises, and Element Pictures.

Bugonia was released in Venice on August 28, 2025, and will be released in theaters in the United States on October 24, 2025, and worldwide on October 31, 2025.
