The Penguin star is now on A Big Bold Beautiful Journey with The Suicide Squad actress Margot Robbie. The film's trailer was dropped just recently, and it's full of doors, literally. These doors seem to be portals to different times in their lives, i.e., the past and the future.
Its synopsis (via YouTube) reads,
"Some doors bring you to your past. Some doors lead you to your future. And some doors change everything. Sarah (Margot Robbie) and David (Colin Farrell) are single strangers who meet at a mutual friend’s wedding and soon, through a surprising twist of fate, find themselves on A Big Bold Beautiful Journey – a funny, fantastical, sweeping adventure together where they get to re-live important moments from their respective pasts, illuminating how they got to where they are in the present…and possibly getting a chance to alter their futures."
Other than Colin Farrell and Margot Robbie, we have Kevin Kline, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Jodie Turner-Smith, and more in the movie.
Margot Robbie was last seen in Greta Gerwig's Barbie (2023), where she was in the lead. Ryan Gosling, Simu Liu, Kate McKinnon, and more also starred in the movie. The critically acclaimed movie went on to earn around $1.5 billion at the global box office.
As for Colin Farrell, he was last seen in the Academy Award-nominated The Banshees of Inisherin (2022). But he made a buzz with his role as Oswald "Oz" Cobb, aka The Penguin, for which he was nominated for the Primetime Emmy Awards and will be getting the Zurich Film Festival’s Golden Icon Award.
A Big Bold Beautiful Journey was one of the unproduced movies on the 2020 Black List, and Deadline called it "one of the market’s hottest scripts."
What's in A Big Bold Beautiful Journey's trailer?
So, the trailer begins with Sarah and David having some snacks in a restaurant, which isn't really a date, as the former asks him if he is going to ask her out. It seems like he does, as they are then seen on a big, bold, beautiful journey throughout the rest of the trailer.
David takes her on a drive and says that he loves scenic routes, one of which he is taking. That's a region with lush green mountains that could revive a person's mood in an instant. Sarah likes those routes too. It seems like it's a perfect match, but let's not arrive at a conclusion until the movie arrives.
However, there seems to be a difference among them, though that's not a problem. David says that he believes he hasn't met the right one yet, and Sarah claims that she is meant to be alone, which is something that David is unconvinced about.
The core concept of A Big Bold Beautiful Journey comes to us at around the 40-minute mark, where Margot Robbie's Sarah sees a door standing alone in the wilderness. They both enter it, and it turns out to be a portal of some kind that's taking them to different places at different times in their lives. It looks like there are going to be several doors like that they'll be passing through.
