Is Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man the end of the Cillian Murphy era? Will there be more of the popular show? Maybe there will be a spinoff to it. These are a few questions that are likely to pop up in your head when you see the latest image of the upcoming movie, the follow-up to Peaky Blinders, shared by Empire magazine in its recent cover story.
Barry Keoghan, who joined the film last year after being left out of the show as there wasn't a character that would be a fit for his persona, is leading a pack of young'uns somewhere. It's like when the show began, and Cillian Murphy's Thomas Shelby walked in front as the leading man of the pack.
Does that mean Tommy Shelby has passed on the torch to someone worthy? Maybe. Because, from what we know, this is likely to be a farewell to the character Murphy brought to life in 2013. As his popularity began throughout major countries in the series, his family became our family, too.
A few familiar faces are already set for a return in Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man. This includes the main man, Cillian Murphy's Thomas Shelby, Sophie Rundle's Ada Thorne, Packy Lee's Johnny Dogs, and more.
Barry Keoghan didn't think for a second before becoming a part of Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man

While talking to Empire magazine, he explained that we almost became a part of the series. However, it wasn't until Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man that his wish finally came through. He explains it by saying,
"I’d always wanted to be part of it. But the schedules never worked, or I didn’t fit the description of what they were looking for."
He continues by explaining the time Cillian Murphy's call came.
"I said, ‘Of course, bro. At the drop of a hat. I was like, ‘Freakin’ yeah. Anything to work with yourself again.’"
We are about to see Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man dropping in select theaters next year, on March 6. After a couple of weeks, the film will be released on Netflix.
What does this mean for the future of Peaky Blinders?
For those who don't know it already, a sequel series to the popular show has already been announced, and a couple of seasons of it are confirmed. Cillian Murphy will executive produce it.
The official logline to that show, according to Deadline, reads,
"Britain, 1953. After being heavily bombed in WWII, Birmingham is building a better future out of concrete and steel. In a new era of Steven Knight’s Peaky Blinders, the race to own Birmingham’s massive reconstruction project becomes a brutal contest of mythical dimensions. This is a city of unprecedented opportunity and danger: with the Shelby family right at its blood-soaked heart."
With what we saw in the exclusive image that Empire shared, Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man is both an end and a beginning. The end of an era of Thomas Shelby's rule and the beginning of an era to be ruled by a younger generation.
