It may take some time to wrap your head around The Girl Who Got Away because of the final revelation, which is also to say, it will deliver a surprise, and well, a baby. There aren't sufficient reviews of the film on the review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes; however, their audience score is 92% as of this writing.
The film stars Lexi Johnson (The Nice Guys) as the lead, Christina Bowden, and Chukwudi Iwuji (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3) as a supporting character, Jamie Nwosu. Apart from them, Kaye Tuckerman, Timothy J. Alex, Aubin Bradley, and more also star in it.
While almost everything will become clear as you finish the story, there is still some ambiguity, because whatever's happening in there is certainly evil, but why it is happening can be conceived as a mother doing anything she can for her daughter.
So, let's take a look at what happens there.
Who is the killer in The Girl Who Got Away?
First things first, there's a killer in the film who kidnapped Christina when she was just a kid. It was a devastating experience. What makes it more traumatic for her is the fact that she was the only survivor of the five children taken in by the kidnapper.
Now, Christina has grown up and is about to adopt this kid, Lisa (Willow McCarthy), but she learns from Jamie that her kidnapper is out in the wind, which terrorizes her to the core. However, Jamie makes sure throughout the film that he keeps her safe.
However, things start to go a little sideways in The Girl Who Got Away when the investigation begins, which takes Jamie to the former Chief of Police named Gerry Bailey (Ned Van Zandt). There's a little tension here because Jamie used to date Gerry's daughter.
Jamie didn't get much from the former Police Chief other than the ultimatum of capturing the killer at any cost. After this, some killings happen in the town, and, interestingly, everyone who ends up dead is somehow connected to her. Her daughter, her ex-boyfriend, her foster parents, and more.
The doubt naturally turns to Christina, but then, in the final showdown at Gerry's house, it is revealed that it was indeed the killer who kidnapped her. Her name is Elizabeth Caulfield.
And this killer has wiped out the existence of Gerry's family, too. Cherry on top, she cut the baby out of Jamie's daughter at his home. Thankfully, the surgery was successful, and the baby was alive.
And now, the big revelations

It turns out that Christina was actually Katie, Elizabeth's daughter. And there weren't five girls with Elizabeth, but six, as Jamie finds out in one of the videotape recordings, which showed a sixth girl in the mirror. And guess whose daughter she was? Well, Gerry's. That is why the former Police Chief was adamant about capturing the killer.
The final punch that The Girl Who Got Away delivers is that Christina was actually one of the girls who died, and the Christina we saw on the screen is actually called Katie.
One more interesting fact about The Girl Who Got Away is that Elizabeth killed everyone because they had done some wrong to her daughter. But why, Lisa? Well, she wasn't "pure" according to her. The "pure" one was the one she pulled out of Gerry's daughter.
