The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping has finally found its Proserpina Trinket. Iris Apatow is all set to play Proserpina in the upcoming film. Joining her is the young Swedish actor Edvin Ryding, who will play Vitus, a fellow student from Capitol University who will be a part of the team preparing for the District 12 Tributes.
Apatow and Ryding are joining a cast of A-listers from Hollywood, with the most recent additions being Glenn Close and Billy Porter. The upcoming film shows Francis Lawrence back in the director's chair. Lawrence has directed every movie adaptation in the series, apart from the foundational 2012 film.
Billy Ray (who wrote the first installment) writes the script. It's a much-anticipated adaptation of Suzanne Collins's 2025 dystopian fiction novel of the same name. Haymitch Abernathy is the protagonist in this chapter, which takes place in Panem, nearly 24 years before the events of the Jennifer Lawrence-led films. As per IMDb, the film's logline reads,
"The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping explores Panem 24 years before Katniss' saga, starting on the morning of the reaping for the 50th Hunger Games, where a young Haymitch Abernathy participates."
What else have Iris Apatow and Edvin Ryding been in?
Iris Apatow is Judd Apatow and Leslie Mann's daughter, and Euphoria star Maude Apatow's sister. Her most recent project was José Avelino Gilles Corbett Lourenço's 2024 rom-com, Young Weather. She was also seen in Rob Lowe's recent Netflix series, Unstable, besides the quirky rom-com series, Love. She will now be a part of The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping cast.
Her co-star, Edvin Ryding recently starred in Danny Boyle's 28 Years Later, as Erik, the Swedish soldier who crosses paths with Alfie Williams's Spike on the other side of the water. Ryding is otherwise known for his work in Swedish shows such as Young Royals, Gåsmamman, Storm på Lugna gatan, and Miss Friman's War, among others.
