The Long Walk cast and character guide: Who plays whom in the horror thriller?

In just a few days, we will see a few young men walking the long walk in a dystopian United States. There's not really one protagonist to the Francis Lawrence follow-up to 2023's The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. But there sure is a major antagonist that is, interestingly, also called The Major.

The Long Walk is the latest of many film adaptations of Stephen King novels. Here, as the film's synopsis describes,

"A group of teenage boys compete in an annual contest known as "The Long Walk," where they must maintain a certain walking speed or get shot."

From Cooper Hoffman to Mark Hamill, a lot of interesting actors star in the film, and the information about who they're set to play is listed below. The film has already garnered a juicy reception from its early previews and is currently sitting with a strong 96% score on the review aggregator platform Rotten Tomatoes.

More than that, it is almost a heart stopper (more like a pumper), so be prepared for what's to come.

Cooper Hoffman as Raymond "Ray" Garraty (#47)

As we mentioned, there's no one main protagonist in the film, but Raymond Garraty, who Cooper Hoffman is playing, is the lead in the story. As per the novel, the story is told from his point of view. Let's wait for the movie to see how the text is adapted to the screen.

David Jonsson as Peter "Pete" McVries (#23)

Peter McVries is Raymond's closest companion in The Long Walk, which David Jonsson of Alien: Romulus will portray.

Garrett Wareing as Stebbins (#38)

Garrett Wareing is playing Stebbins in the movie, someone who is the illegitimate son of the story's antagonist. Although referred to as a loner, he is likely to be a fun character, as presented in the novel, which is definitely something all the participants would need in this tension-filled premise.

Tut Nyuot as Arthur "Art" Baker (#6)

Arthur Baker is a badass and optimistic character in the story with some skeletons in his closet, and Tut Nyuot is set to portray him in the film. He is a close companion of Raymond and Peter.

According to the novel, Gary Barkovitch has the potential to be a minor antagonist in the film who hates McVries, which, of course, is a sentiment that McVries shares. Though he looks friendly in the trailer, we only see him interact with Garatty. Charlie Plummer will be playing this role.

Ben Wang, who was recently seen in the latest in The Karate Kid franchise film, Karate Kid: Legends, will play one of Raymond Garraty's early companions.

Joshua Odjick will play Collie Parker in The Long Walk, someone whom Garraty's novel counterpart describes as a "leather jacket hero" and a "Saturday night tough guy."

Pearson is likely to be one of the intellectual characters in the film, as he is someone who loves poetry, chess, and game theory in the novel.

Judy Greer as Mrs. Garraty

The beautiful Judy Greer will play Raymond's mother, Mrs. Garraty, in the movie. Other than The Long Walk, she is also set to appear in a comedy movie called In Memoriam, directed by Rob Burnett.

And we have the most sinister entity of the story, The Major, who Mark Hamill is set to portray. Everything will be happening under The Major's watch here, so better beware!
