The perfect title for the Godzilla Minus One sequel is revealed in a brand new teaser

On November 3, 2025, Toho Studios officially announced that the sequel to Godzilla Minus One will be titled Godzilla Minus Zero (stylised as Godzilla – 0.0). Directed by Takashi Yamazaki, the four-part production is set for a late-2026 release and promises to expand the franchise’s narrative beyond the original post-war setting.

The sequel to the Academy Award-winning film has been anticipated for a long time, especially considering the mysterious mark that appeared at the very end of 2023's Godzilla Minus One.

The official title for the sequel has been revealed to be Godzilla Minus Zero (written as Godzilla -0.0).

Godzilla Minus One sequel title officially revealed to be Godzilla Minus Zero

Writer, director, and Academy Award-winning VFX artist Takashi Yamazaki is back at the helm for the Godzilla Minus One sequel, Godzilla Minus Zero. The title reveal was accompanied by a dark and somber teaser.

The teaser sets a foreboding atmosphere, leading us right into the iconic and chilling brush-stroke “G” popping up on the screen, with the highest of notes playing in the background. A “-1.0” joins the “G,” signifying Godzilla Minus One; however, it is soon replaced by a “-0.0,” marking the onset of the next era, Godzilla Minus Zero. While the visual style of the new teaser appears similar, its tone makes it clear that a much darker era is upon us.

Godzilla Minus Zero has managed to create an uproar in the franchise with its single title reveal. There are no details yet on whether the film, considered a sequel, will also be set as a direct continuation. The first Godzilla film, released in 1954, was set in the same year. Additionally, Godzilla -1.0 was released in 2023 and set in 1947.

The teaser, along with the artwork, was unveiled by the iconic Tokyo-based Toho Studios. There are no plot details available for the upcoming sequel, and it remains unconfirmed if Minami Hamabe and Ryunosuke Kamiki will be returning as Noriko and Shikishima. However, the Godzilla -1.0 ending featured Noriko sporting a mysterious mark on her neck, so perhaps Godzilla Minus Zero will finally explain its origin.

Beyond that, there is also no confirmed release date available for Godzilla Minus Zero. It might bring Monster Land to our screens in 2026 or 2027, and considering how high the VFX bar is set for a Godzilla film, later might be better than sooner. The release date will depend on the level of post-production involved. Reports suggest that a late 2026 release might be on the horizon for the Godzilla Minus One sequel.

Godzilla Minus Zero has some very high expectations to fulfill. Its predecessor earned more than $110 million worldwide on a $15 million budget, becoming one of the top-grossing live-action Japanese films of all time. However, the fact that Takashi Yamazaki is once again at the helm instills a great deal of confidence.
