The Incredibles 3 is coming to the theaters in 2028
As reported by The Hollywood Handle, the upcoming threequel, The Incredibles 3, has a release year! But we have to patiently wait for four more years, as the film is going to be released in 2028.
The upcoming third film of the franchise was declared last year, on 9th August 2024, at the Disney D23. At that time, Brad Bird, the helmer and writer of the previous films, was announced to be directing and penning its threequel as well.
However, this year, in June, it was revealed that Peter Sohn would be directing the animated film, with the story written by Brad Bird. Both these directors have worked with each other for a long time, as both Sohn and Bird have had a long association with Pixar.
As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, this time, Brad Bird is busy with his upcoming directorial project, Ray Gunn. So, Peter Sohn will be continuing the legacy of The Incredibles. It was confirmed based on a mutual decision made by Bird and Pete Docter, the chief creative officer of the studio.
Even though Brad Bird is not directing The Incredibles 3, he is still a crucial part of the project. Besides writing the film, he is also producing it along with Dana Murray.
When the first film of the animated franchise, The Incredibles, was released in 2004, it was honored with two Oscars, in the categories of Best Sound Editing and Best Animated Feature. It also garnered two nominations, including Best Sound Mixing and Best Original Screenplay.
It carved a name in the history of animated film by winning the Hugo Award. This win marked the film as the earliest animated feature to win this award. In 2018, its sequel, Incredibles 2, was released. This film too won people's hearts alike, as it got nominated at the Oscars and Golden Globes in the category of Best Animated Feature Film.
The films of this franchise follow the plot of a family of four that includes the mother, the father, and their two children, who actually possess superpowers. So they are stuck between choosing to either keep their powers hidden and appear 'normal,' or engage in full-fledged superhero action!
The star-studded voice cast of the films includes Craig T. Nelson, Holly Hunter, Sarah Vowell, Eli Fucile, Samuel L. Jackson, Brad Bird, and many others.
