Jackie Chan's latest blockbuster, The Shadow's Edge, will soon be coming to the United Kingdom as Trinity CineAsia secures the rights for distribution there, as per an exclusive report by Variety. It will be released theatrically on October 3, 2025, nationwide. As of this writing, the film is dominating the Chinese box office and has earned $122 million globally.
Tony Leung Ka-fai is in the film too, reuniting with Jackie Chan after almost a couple of decades. They worked together on The Myth in 2005, a martial arts fantasy film, which was followed by a couple of sequels dubbed Kung Fu Yoga in 2017, and A Legend in 2024.
Regarding The Shadow's Edge distribution deal, Trinity CineAsia's managing director says,
"We are thrilled to be bringing this bold new action-thriller to the big screen, presenting it exactly as intended, after its great success in mainland China, where it sits at #1 at the box office. Jackie Chan remains an icon of action cinema, his longevity is testament to this, and in both director Larry Yang and co-star Tony Leung Kar Fai he’s found amazing collaborators who can really push him in fresh and creative ways, while acknowledging the enduring legacy of his work."
Other than Jackie Chan and Tony Leung Ka-fai, Zifeng Zhang, Brono Bajtala, CiSha, and more are in the film too.
What is The Shadow's Edge about?

The Shadow's Edge is a heist film where Jackie Chan is a retired police officer, Wong, who comes out of retirement to bring down a group of criminals involved in some next-level robbery. What's interesting is how these cybercriminals, led by Tony Leung Ka-fai's The Shadow, beat the AI-enhanced surveillance to execute their plan.
It is a second remake of the 2007 film called Eye in the Sky. What's more interesting is that Tony Leung Ka-fai was a part of this film too. Other than him, Simon Yam and Kate Tsui were in the movie too. Like The Shadow's Edge, the film was met with a positive reception but was criticized for its shorter runtime. It was nominated for several awards and won at the 27th Hong Kong Film Awards and the 14th Hong Kong Film Critics Society Awards.
Another remake of Eye in the Sky came in 2013, a South Korean film called Cold Eyes. It became a success at the box office, given that it earned $37.8 million against its $4.5 million budget.
What are fans saying about The Shadow's Edge?
At this moment, review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes doesn't have enough reviews of the film to give it a proper score on the Tomatometer. However, the Popcornmeter says a lot about it, as the film registered 97% approval there.
Fans are hoping for a sequel after this. Additionally, they want people to watch this specifically if they are into "old school Jackie Chan style movies."
Not just that, a fan also called this one the best Jackie Chan movie of the decade. All in all, we can say that this latest movie is, in all ways, captivating anyone reaching theaters.
