Knightley leads the cast as a travel journalist who boards a luxury cruise ship for her new assignment. It seems like a perfect location to rest and relax until she notices something strange. She sees a woman’s body falling into the water from a cabin, but what starts as a cause for alarm and investigation soon turns into her worst nightmare.

With a script by Anna Waterhouse and Joe Shrapnel (Seberg, The Aftermath), The Woman in Cabin 10 brings a Ruth Ware novel to life. You can catch a ride on this cruise on 10 October 2025.

The newly released trailer of The Woman in Cabin 10 begins with Laura Blacklock / Lo (Keira Knightley) heading onto a cruise ship. It feels like business as usual for her as she boards and is greeted by Richard Bullmer (Guy Pearce).

Lo remains professional with him as with everyone else, even if they don’t see eye to eye when it comes to her work. Still, she doesn’t let their pointed comments affect her professional decorum.

Everything changes when Lo notices a woman’s body falling into the water. She panics and asks the crew to look into the matter, but they claim she must have imagined the accident. As if that’s not enough, Richard says that no one is staying in Cabin 10, even though Lo swears she saw someone fall from that very room. Does this mean they’re lying? If so, why? The film will provide the answers.

Until then, the trailer makes us root for Lo and hope she finds justice, as the crew continues gaslighting her. Lo’s partner (David Ajala) even warns her not to speak against these powerful people “who run the world” in her attempt to expose their lies. This adds another layer to the story as Lo holds on to her principles despite the odds stacked against her.

Author Ruth Ware also spoke about why her story still resonates with readers during her conversation with Netflix’s Tudum. Ware highlighted the “fear of not being believed” and elaborated, saying,

“Cabin 10, at its heart, is about a woman who experiences something wrong, reports it truthfully, and isn’t taken seriously because of who she is. Too many people know what that feels like, and I think we want vindication for ourselves as much as Lo.”

When asked about her feelings on the Netflix adaptation of The Woman in Cabin 10, Ruth Ware added,

“I’ve said in acknowledgements before that it takes a village to make a book, but what I learned going on set for Cabin 10 is that it takes a whole town to make a film — it’s truly amazing seeing so many people working so hard on something you created. It’s also a big leap of faith, of course — like handing your baby over to strangers. But I feel Lo [played by Knightley] and company are in good hands.”

Apart from Keira Knightley, Guy Pearce, and David Ajala, the cast also includes Kaya Scodelario, Hannah Waddingham, Art Malik, Christopher Rygh, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Ayọ̀ Owóyẹmi-Peters, Gitte Witt, Daniel Ings, David Morrissey, Paul Kaye, John Macmillan, and Pippa Bennett-Warner.

The Woman in Cabin 10 is scheduled to be released on 10 October 2025.
