What's the story of The Wrecking Crew?

youtube-cover

The Wrecking Crew is about two half-brothers, one of whom is a police officer, while the other is a Navy SEAL. Their father was killed during a trip to Hawaii. This forces them to come together to find the people responsible.

The film was first announced back in August 2023. In an interview with Esquire Magazine, Jonathan Trooper spoke about casting Bautista and Momoa.

“I took over See for Season 2 and I cast Dave to play opposite Jason as a nemesis. It was a tough season. See has some heavy stuff in it, and I was shocked at how thrilled they were to be getting meaty stuff to do that wasn’t necessarily heroic. They really wanted to sink their teeth into acting, and there was no vanity about who has to win fights and who has to beat up who.

He elaborated on their relationship and mutual love of Shane Black.

The two guys got along great. But the two revelations for me were how funny they both were, even though there’s almost no opportunity for humor in the show, and we discovered we all had this mutual love of Shane Black.”

He also spoke about the story being set in Hawaii, comparing it to Puerto Rico,

“Oftentimes, both Puerto Rico and Hawaii are shown to the world as beautiful beaches and palm trees. And yes, we are that, but that’s the stage, that’s the front. Once you pass the tourism board’s pictures and postcards, you’re faced with the reality of everyday Hawaiians. And that is something that is very similar to Puerto Rico.”

The film will be available on January 28, 2026.
