Fans are brimming with anticipation and questions about the upcoming film based on the series, The Immortal Man.

People are mostly keen to know when the film will be released. Regarding that, Steven Knight, the OG creator of the British television series Peaky Blinders, shed some light.

While speaking to ScreenRant, he said:

"There'll be an announcement relatively soon, and I can tell you it's really, really, really brilliant."

Knight's statement suggests that fans will soon get an exciting announcement that will absolutely blow their minds. After all, it has been three years since the series ended in 2022, so certainly, the anticipation is rising to its peak.

The Immortal Man will be set during the critical time of WWII, and shall explore the journey of the Shelby family.

Its synopsis, as per IMDb, goes as follows:

"During World War II, Tommy Shelby returns to a bombed Birmingham and becomes involved in secret wartime missions based on true events, facing new threats as he reckons with his past and rising national stakes."

The filming of the film concluded in December last year. Cillian Murphy will be returning in his role as Thomas Shelby. Along with him, actors including Sophie Rundle, Stephen Graham, Packy Lee, Ian Peck, and Ned Dennehy shall once again be seen in their respective roles from the series as well.

Some new actors in the cast include Tim Roth, Rebecca Ferguson, Barry Keoghan, and Jay Lycurgo. Two years ago, in 2023, in a conversation with the Rolling Stones, Cillian Murphy had expressed his interest in a film adaptation of the series, by stating:

“If there’s more story there, I’d love to do it. But it has to be right. Steve Knight wrote 36 hours of television, and we left on such a high. I’m really proud of that last series. So, it would have to feel legitimate and justified to do more.”

The Immortal Man is directed by Tom Harper, who has previously directed three episodes of Peaky Blinders Season 1, namely the 4th, 5th, and 6th ones. The filmmaker has also directed films including Wild Rose (2018), The Aeronauts (2019), and his most recent Heart of Stone (2023).

With a screenplay penned by Steven Knight, the film is produced by Cillian Murphy, Jimmy Tandel, Guy Heeley, Caryn Mandabach, as well as Steven Knight. Its distribution shall be handled by the streaming platform Netflix.
