1) Rocco’s arrival

Right when Riff Raff starts, we see Rocco and his girlfriend flee from a crime scene. Though it is not elaborately revealed in the beginning, it sets the tone for the movie.
Rocco arrives at DJ’s house late at night after running away. He also brings his mother and pregnant girlfriend. DJ asks Marina about her pregnancy, and Rocco tells him that she loves to eat.
DJ does not understand the humor and thinks that he has made a mistake, and apologizes for assuming right away. This scene is effortlessly filled with a unique form of humor.
Through Vincent’s reaction to Rocco’s arrival and DJ’s surprise at his father’s sudden change in behaviour, this moment in Riff Raff is truly a great blend of crime and comedy, which sets the mood for the rest of the movie.
2) Leftie, Lonnie, and the clerk

This scene in Riff Raff is both unexpected and filled with humor. Leftie and Lonnie arrive at a store on their way. They stop at the store and enter to buy some things.
Leftie tells Lonnie to buy something for his digestion, as Leftie could not breathe in the car because of him. However, Lonnie calls Leftie by his name in front of the clerk. Leftie asks the clerk whether he heard their names or not. The clerk confirms that he did indeed hear their names.
The clerk then continues to tell Leftie that his son was unique. Right when the clerk calls Lonnie and Leftie’s son, Leftie is triggered. He gets angry and asks why he thinks that Lonnie is his son. He then tells Lonnie to get the things that he needs for the car and takes out his gun.
When the clerk notices that Leftie is continuously looking at the security camera, he tells him that the camera does not work. On hearing this, Leftie does not waste any more minutes; he shoots the clerk right away.
Seeing this, Lonnie comes up and asks him about the shooting. Leftie tells him that he overreacted because the clerk brought up Jonnie's subject. He adds that as he gets older, he gets more and more emotional.
The contrast between their shooting and their reaction is truly hilarious. This scene in the movie brings out the perfect balance of crime and humor.
3) Ruth and Vincent

This scene in Riff Raff truly adds to the overall intrigue of Vincent and Ruth’s falling out. After Snady leaves with DJ, Rocco, and Marina for shopping, leaving Vincent and Ruth back at home, Ruth starts to talk with Vincent about Rocco.
She tells him about the relationships she had after Vincent and how she is hurt because he left. Vincent asks Ruth about why they were at his house, to which Ruth says that Leftie had visited her.
She explains to Vincent what happened with Leftie. She gets tensed, and her reaction in this moment is truly hilarious. This movie brings out some of the most subtle, humor-filled moments in the storyline. This scene is a great example of it.
4) Ruth wakes up

DJ and Ruth’s encounter at the beginning of Riff Raff is truly a hilarious one. DJ starts to describe what his first meeting with Ruth was like. He was much younger when he first met her.
She left quite an impression with her words on DJ. DJ comes back to the house after his workout. He finds Ruth still passed out from last night. He tries to get close to her and asks her whether she is okay.
However, right when he gets close, Ruth pulls out her knife and places it near his neck. DJ is completely shocked and tries to stop Ruth. Ruth is bewildered and is not able to recognise DJ at first.
However, when DJ starts to tell her that he is Vincent's other son, Ruth recognises him. Ruth apologises to him. She then tells him that she was probably drugged. This scene in the movie is truly a hilarious one as it sets the tone for Ruth and DJ’s relationship.
5) Rocco’s story

In Riff Raff, after misbehaving with the DJ, Rocco understands his fault, and he decides to go talk to him. DJ leaves the car and sits at a secluded place. Rocco comes and tells him that he should not have reacted the way he did. DJ asks him about how he met with Marina, and he starts to tell the story.
Before meeting Marina for the first time, he met a woman at a bar. He took the woman to his house. While the woman was with him in his house, she fell down the stairs. Rocco helped her to get up, but was shocked when he saw her face. She had broken her nose and was also bleeding profusely.
This scene is filled with humor. Rocco tries to help her, but ends up ruining the situation further. This scene leaves a lasting impact on the viewers. Through this scene, we can understand Rocco’s nature even more. It adds to the overall humor and depth of the movie.
6) DJ’s interruptions

After his conversation with DJ in Riff Raff, Rocco decides to tell his father everything. Ruth also comes and joins Rocco and Vincent while Rocco tells the story. Rocco says that he took Jhonnie’s blessings before dating Marina.
However, the previous day, when they were out at a restaurant, Johnnie joined them. Right when Rocco comes out of the restroom, he sees that Johnnie is hurting Marina. Johnnie started to threaten them with a gun. In the heat of the moment, Rocco killed Johnnie to protect his family.
This is the reason why Leftie is looking for him. However, while he is telling such a grave and disturbing story, DJ keeps on interrupting them unknowingly. He keeps asking about the furnace as he is unable to turn it on. Vincent becomes angry and tells DJ to leave and give them some time to discuss.
Ruth also tells him to leave. Despite the serious situation, DJ’s innocent interruptions added to the humor of Riff Raff. Later, DJ and Vincent prepare an elaborate barbecue for the rest of the family.
Amongst the serious moments in this movie, the clever addition of humor and blending it perfectly with crime brings out the talent of the movie creators.
7) Lonnie and Leftie’s visit

This scene truly ties up Riff Raff’s ability to blend humor with crime. Leftie and Lonnie reach Vincent’s house searching for him. However, when they reach the house, they find out that Vincent is not there.
They start to search the house to find out where they are, when all of a sudden they are met with a surprise. Janet and Garrison knock on the door. Initially, Lonnie takes out his gun, but Leftie tells him to open the door.
Janet and Garrison are truly hilarious. Despite the obvious sceptical behaviour of Leftie and Lonnie, they are completely oblivious of the danger they pose. They even reveal Vincent’s location at the other house.
Leftie and Lonnie pretend to know Vincent, which further lowers Garrison and Janet’s guard. Lonnie and Leftie’s behaviour in this scene leaves a lasting impact.
