Movies and TV shows, while depicting fictional tales, often also cover themes around the real chaotic lives of people. For instance, movies based on workplaces, be it NASA, a brokerage company, or any other office setting, showcase the lives and struggles related to the offices and the workers.

Ranging from racism to fraud, the characters often tend to build great relationships through these difficult themes that help them survive this chaotic life. Sometimes these friends help each other overcome the challenges they face in the workplace, while some help each other achieve their goals, even if it means being a part of fraudulent activities.

In this tale of the most horrible bosses to ever exist, these three lifelong friends, Nick (Jason Bateman), Dale (Charlie Day), and Kurt (Jason Sudeikis), are fed up with their bosses. Nick’s boss is suggested to be sadistic, Dale deals with a boss who tries to s*xually harass him, while Kurt’s new boss is just a cocaine-addicted apathetic man with no interest in running the company.

While discussing their problems with their bosses, the three friends decide to kill them to make their lives better. The film is about how they try to get rid of their bosses, making it one of the best dark comedy movies.

6) Ryan and Natalie (Up in the Air)

Up in the Air is one of those movies where the two characters are put together despite having totally different outlooks on life and their professions. The film follows Ryan, who works in employment termination in Human Resources, and tries to conduct terminations for employers by showing empathy and care.

On the other hand, Natalie does just the opposite. As they are sent together for their next round of terminations, their views clash, and they criticize each other for their way of living. However, while dealing with several challenges, they both end up learning from each other, which eventually works in favor of both.

5) Mike Wazowski and Sulley (Monsters Inc.)

This animated film might be one of the most fitting movies in this list due to Mike and Sulley’s unique friendship. In this film, while working in the Monsters, Incorporated factory, a toddler girl enters the city of Monstropolis, where the monsters live.

This creates havoc in the city, as children are the most feared among the monsters. Mike and Sulley try to send Boo back to her bedroom, which does not seem like an easy task, as they face many challenges. However, the partners in crime successfully send Boo to her bedroom and also help change how the factory works.

4) Peter and his friends (Office Space)

Office Space is one of those workplace movies that portray the mundanity of office life as Peter feels at the beginning of the film. He and his co-workers, Samir and Michael, also have issues in their workplace. To top it all off, their insufferable VP, Bill Lumbergh, makes the lives of his employees unbearable.

However, after Peter is hypnotised into thinking of stopping caring about his job, he literally stops caring about the job and begins taking it casually. Later, with his partners in crime, Samir and Michael, Peter takes revenge on their boss by infecting the account systems with a virus created by Michael, resulting in further irredeemable problems in their company.

3) Ben and Jules (The Intern)

The Intern depicts the unlikely friendship between a 70-year-old intern and his young CEO. Starring Robert De Niro and Anne Hathaway, it tells the story of Ben, who joins a new job as an intern for Jules’s company after being bored with sitting idle at home.

Initially doubtful, Jules and Ben later become great colleagues and friends as they help each other in different ways. For instance, Ben helps Jules by breaking into her mother’s home to delete an email that she shouldn’t read, and also encourages her not to give up on her dreams she worked so hard on.

9 to 5 tells the story of the unusual friendship between three women who are tired of the mistreatment by their sexist VP Franklin Hart and wish to be able to get rid of him by killing him. With one misadventure after another, such as mistakenly putting rat poison in his box of sugar to blackmail him to not reveal the poisoning, this film is a tale about how the partners in crime help in making their workplace better without Hart’s involvement, making it one of the hilarious yet meaningful movies to watch.

1) Jordan Belfort and Donnie Azoff (The Wolf of Wall Street)

The tales about friends helping you out of a difficult situation or helping you take revenge on your not-so-good bosses are plenty. However, The Wolf of Wall Street is one of those movies where friends help each other make money through dubious plans.

Leonardo DiCaprio’s Jordan befriends Jonah Hill’s Donnie. Together, they start their brokerage company from scratch. With the help of Jordan’s hard-selling technique, their brokerage company became one of the most successful, helping them make a lot of money. It shows how friends can also be partners in real crime.
