Justin Bieber's grandfather, Bruce Dale, passed away three days ago on Thursday, 24 April, the news of which was revealed by the "STAY" singer on his Instagram.
Bieber shared an extremely close bond with both his maternal grandparents, and previously, in a 2013 interview with US Weekly, shared how he wished to emulate the relationship of his grandparents. During the interview, he said:
"They love each other so much, [even] after so many years! "
On Saturday, Justin Bieber posted a sweet tribute announcing the death of his grandfather. In his post, he wrote:
"Papa, I always took all ur money lol. I remember u specifically telling me, gramma gave u an allowance of 20 dollars for the WEEK! I would always convince you to spend on snacks at the hockey game on Friday nights. Reluctantly you always gave it to me. Corn nuts, skittles, gum balls, chuck a puck, slush puppies. I can’t wait to see u again soon in heaven. Until then I know ur watching down probly still heckling Beatty or Fagon for missing that cross check call in the corner there lmfao.”
More about Justin Bieber's relationship with his grandparents
During Justin Bieber's interview with US Weekly, the "Yummy" singer revealed that he looked forward to having a long and sustained relationship with his future wife, whom he wished to marry young, just like his maternal grandparents, Bruce and Diane Dale.
"My grandparents Bruce and Diane Dale [are my relationship role models. When I’m their age, I want to be as in love with my wife as my grandfather is with his.”
Both his maternal grandparents have long supported Justin Bieber during his early career. They have both even appeared in his 2011 documentary, "Never Say Never." In 2018, during an interview at the first look of the Stanford Perth Museum, which houses a huge exhibition dedicated to the "Sorry" singer, Bruce Dale, who was there with his wife and Justin Bieber's mother, Pattie Mallete, got emotional as he talked about the first time he saw Justin Bieber perform.
"Seeing him in the stage for the first time was.. amazing. His grandma and I drove eight hours, to get to the first show. He didn't know we amwere coming. I can talk to anybody, about anything, but when it comes to talking about him, I get emotional."
Although his relationship with his maternal grandparents is very strong, the picture is quite different when it comes to his paternal grandparents. Bieber allegedly has strained relationships with them, as revealed in a 2013 interview with his paternal grandfather, George Bieber.
Diuring his interview with New York Daily News, George Bieber revealed that the Grammy nominated singer never visited them at their home in Mitchell, Ontario, adding that they lived in dire circumstances, despite their grandson achieving heights of fame and success.
"It’s like we now live on different planets. He never calls us, and now I sometimes think he doesn’t care.”
He further added:
"It does make me sad, as right now our life is pretty desperate. I can’t work due to illness, so there is barely any money coming into the house and we only just about get by."

George Bieber further added that even though Justin Bieber rarely visits them or helps them out financially, they still consider him their family. He said:
"Justin has just got too big for his britches. He will always be my grandson and I am, and will always be, so proud of him. It’s just sad he is not a bigger part of our life. But I guess he is just too busy right now.”
Moreover, George and Kathy Bieber were not invited to the premiere of Justin Bieber's documentary, "Believe," whereas his maternal grandparents and mother were right by his side during the premiere.
Justin Bieber's maternal grandfather, Bruce Dale's died on Thursday, four years after the death of his paternal grandfather, George Bieber, in 2021.
