Legal commentator and the former host of her namesake show, Nancy Grace, talks about the double homicide case of Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner.

Nancy Grace told TMZ that the death case of the famed filmmaker and his wife is a classic case that calls for the death penalty; in this case, the death penalty would be given to the couple's son, Nick Reiner, the alleged murderer.
However, she clarifies that just because it's supposed to happen doesn't mean it will, as even though capital punishment was being discussed by Los Angeles District Attorney Nathan Hochman at a recent press conference, the decision goes way beyond the D.A. office.
Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner's homicide
Rob Reiner, who is known for making films like The Princess Bride, When Harry Met Sally, Stand By Me, and more, was found dead at his Brentwood home along with his wife on December 14. Their son Nick Reiner is the main suspect and has been arrested. He's being held without bail and is on suicide watch while his arraignment is set for January.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner listed the cause of death as “multiple sharp force injuries” for both victims. Nick, the couple's youngest son, has hired defense attorney Alan Jackson, who has represented clients such as Kevin Spacey, Harvey Weinstein, and others in the past, to represent him.
Nancy Grace appeared in a segment of The Will Cain Show on December 17 to discuss the case. She brought up his defense team, questioning who would pay for his representation, as under the California Slayer Rule, he can't access his parents' wealth. She stated,
"Let me just say he ain't doing it for the love of the law. He is not a public defender, and my immediate thought was, 'Who is paying for him?' Cha-ching! Now, in California, there is a California Slayer Rule, if you are convicted of murdering a person from whom you would inherit, you would get nothing, unless you are found NGBROI, not guilty by reason of insanity, then you might get the money."
She added, "I've got a very sneaky suspicion that Rob Reiner and his wife Michele Singer Reiner are paying the bill for their son's defense."
Besides Nick, the couple has two other kids, their oldest, Jake, and daughter, Romy.
