Tyla, the singer and songwriter, best known for singles Water and Getting Late, was recently interviewed by Billboard, ahead of the 2025 Kids’ Choice Awards.
In the interview, she expressed her excitement and discussed bringing her 'Tyla vibe' to the event. In the short clip, she also briefly mentions her recent Coachella performance, meeting the Los Angeles girl group, KATSEYE, and gives a glimpse of her new music.
Sharing about how it feels to be hosting the 2025 Kids’ Choice Awards, she said:
''This is my first time not trying to think about it too much. Like, I’m literally just gonna be my vibe. You know, Tyla vibe. Fun, I love partying, so this is a warehouse party, so it’s my lane, so I’m just gonna have fun with the kids.''
Tyla shares about the recent exciting moments in her career
In a recent short interview ahead of the 2025 Kids’ Choice Awards, the South African singer, Tyla, also known as Tyla Laura Seethal, spoke about some of the recent exciting moments of her career and also discussed what she's been up to recently.
Other than expressing her thrill at hosting the event, she mentioned that she met the girls' group, KATYSEYE, a while back. This is what she said about her meeting with them:
''I’ve actually met [KATYSEYE]. Like, a while ago, I was shooting for Vogue, and they came to me, and they’re like, “Hi, we are new group, KATSEYE,” and they wanted to sing “Water” for me. And, like, they literally the cutest group … So, yeah, they’re cute. I’m excited to see their performance.''
The singer had gained widespread recognition for her 2023 single, Water. It was the first song by a South African soloist to enter the US Billboard Hot 100.
She then spoke about her Coachella performance this year. It was her first time at the festival performing; she said that the experience was wild and fun, especially during the second week. She then also hinted that she has more shows coming. Expressing how she felt about performing at Coachella 2025, she said:
''Coachella was insane. It was my first time performing there, so that was really fun. Like, especially the second week, I was vibing, yeah, and now I have some more in Europe and everything.''
She is also part of the Smurfs soundtrack, lending her voice to the Everything Goes with Blue track from the film. She said:
''I literally love The Smurfs and Rihanna being Smurfette. So I’m happy that I’m a part of that one.''
The singer was last featured in the track When I'm with You by the Thai rapper and singer Lisa.
