Todd and Julie Chrisley were convicted of bank fraud and tax evasion in 2022

Todd and Julie Chrisley were convicted by a federal jury in 2022 in cases of bank fraud and tax offenses. He was accused of committing about $30 million in fraud by falsifying loan papers and tax returns. Todd’s sentence was 12 years, and he reported to the Federal Prison Camp in Pensacola, Florida, in January this year.

At the time she was sentenced, Julie was assigned to serve seven years at the Federal Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky. They each started their sentences in different institutions at the same time.

Their presidential pardons led to their release in May 2025

Former President Donald Trump issued full pardons to Todd and Julie Chrisley on May 27, 2025, officially vacating their convictions and any associated restitution orders. These clemency actions cleared their criminal records at the federal level and allowed them to walk free the next day.

The pardons were part of a broader set of relief measures announced during Trump’s second term, which included individuals from varied backgrounds. Legal experts noted that a presidential pardon removes the legal penalties but does not erase the underlying facts of conviction. For the Chrisleys, the pardon ended their time in federal custody after serving about two and a half years.
