Tom Hanks' 1993 rom-com Sleepless in Seattle, which was also the most rented movie in the United States in 1994, is streaming for free on Paramount's streaming service Pluto TV, beginning July 1, 2025. Alongside Hanks, we see Meg Ryan, Bill Pullman, Dana Ivey, and more in the film.

It's a strange love story where the protagonists, Sam Baldwin (Hanks) and Annie Reed (Ryan), don't interact until the very end of the movie. Sam is a widower and lives with his son, who wants Sam to find a partner. He even speaks all of that on national radio so that this story can get some momentum.

The movie was a critical success and has a 75% score on Rotten Tomatoes' Tomatometer and Popcornmeter. On top of that, it made around $227 million at the global box office following the release and was one of the highest-grossing movies that year.

While Sleepless in Seattle did well, critically and commercially, Tom Hanks was cranky about that. Something bugged him about the film, as he once told The New Yorker. He said,

"When we were working on the rehearsals for it, I realized that one of the things that was driving me nuts about the project is that Nora and Delia Ephron, who helped on the screenplay, are—sisters, but they are also mothers. It was a movie about a father. And I said, 'You guys are the wrong gender to understand what’s going on in this scene between me and my son.'"

After Sleepless in Seattle, Tom Hanks was next seen in Philadelphia alongside Denzel Washington in the same year. Forrest Gump was after that.

There's more than Sleepless in Seattle on Pluto TV if you are looking for some Tom Hanks flicks. Forrest Gump and Philadelphia, both of which we have mentioned above, are available on the platform.

Additionally, Saving Private Ryan (1998), which is considered among the greatest war films, is available on the platform too. Hanks played Captain John Miller, who is in charge of finding the titular Private Ryan, played by Matt Damon. The film stars Vin Diesel, Nathan Fillion, Bryan Cranston, and many more.

There's another rom-com that brought together Hanks and Ryan again in 1998, You've Got Mail. That was the third time they were working together. Before this and Sleepless in Seattle, the pair was seen in the 1990 film called Joe Versus the Volcano.

The Great Buck Howard (2008) is also available on Pluto TV. Though it's primarily a John Malkovich film, Tom Hanks plays the father of Troy Gable, who, interestingly, is played by his real-life son Colin Hanks. The film is about a boy trying to get some experience in life, which begins with him starting with the mentalist Buck Howard (Malkovich).
