Tom Hiddleston's Loki is a God of Mischief, which makes his return in Avengers: Doomsday seem plausible to the MCU fans. After all, Loki has faked his death to get out of trouble a few times up until Avengers: Infinity War (2018), where he died at the hands of Thanos.

Even after that, he seemingly returns to the universe in the Disney+ series, thanks to the multiverse route the MCU has taken since Avengers: Endgame (2019). However, since it's Marvel, the actors can't reveal any details until the studio makes it public.

For the same reason, Hiddleston has not been vocal about reprising his role in the MCU. However, after the cast announcement for Avengers: Doomsday, he can finally confirm that he is going to be in the movie. In line with this, interviewer Josh Horowitz recently asked Hiddleston about the time he learned about his return to the universe. Hiddleston said that he didn't know this while working on the Disney+ show.

"[Back then] I didn't know that. I was sincere in my conviction that I thought it was the end. I wasn't lying to you, I promise. I didn't know then. I didn't know what the plan was."

Hiddleston couldn't remember when he learned about his return as Loki, but found it exciting regardless. So, Horowitz asked whether he knew anything about the direction his character would take in Avengers: Doomsday and whether he was happy with it. Hiddleston answered in just one word,

"Yes!"

He further added,

"I do know some things [about what happens to Loki in Avengers: Doomsday. Regardless] it's an extraordinary privilege to still be on the team. There are still more stories to tell, and the character [of Loki] has grown as I've grown. [So] it's genuinely an honor to still be in the squad."

Horowitz wished the writers not to kill Loki as they did in the prior MCU projects, and Hiddleston doesn't want Loki to face a doomed fate either. So, in jest, he added that he would tell the Russo brothers to "not kill Loki again" in the upcoming movie.

In a recent interview with Tom Hiddleston, talk show host Jimmy Kimmel asked him about Loki's role in Avengers: Doomsday and whether his connection to all the timelines will be a crucial plot point in the MCU's upcoming tentpole project. Hiddleston replied,

"See, this is where I run out of rope, Jimmy. We always do this dance, you and me. I can exclusively tell you...I will be there. There was the big thing they released of all the names on the back of the chairs, I didn't know, I was like, 'Oh I guess I'm in the movie.' In fairness, I did know I was in the movie. But I am so used to not knowing 'I'm in the movie.' So, it was a relief [to know that I'm going to be in the movie]"

Avengers: Doomsday is expected to be released in 2026.
