Gone are the times when fans looked up to the physique of Arnold Schwarzenegger or Sylvester Stallone. Today, they are more inclined toward Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, or Tom Hardy as an action hero. Let us take a look at some of the best action movies of the Thor actor.

Of course, Thor had to feature in this list of action movies. After all, when we hear the name Chris Hemsworth, it is usually Thor — the character he gloriously played in the MCU — that comes to mind. But then, the actor has essayed several other action roles, too, which required him to portray human strength and go on a trigger-happy spree with assault rifles.

While picking his action movies, we had to include a couple of Hemsworth's MCU outings. We have tried to sequence these films in a way that you can sit and enjoy them whenever you have the craving for action and thrills. Check out our list below:

Chris Hemsworth's top 5 action films

5. Avengers: Infinity War

The superhero movie saw Chris Hemsworth back in action as Thor, this time with a new weapon — Stormbreaker. Although he earlier had an entirely new look in Thor: Ragnarok, it wasn't until he arrived during the battle of Wakanda that Steve (Chris Evans) noticed him. Many fans consider this movie to be better than Endgame (2019), and Odinson was certainly at his peak in this one!

4. Thor: Ragnarok

By this time, we had become used to Thor as an action star, but it is in this film that we learn about the true God of Thunder inside him. For the first time, his character in the MCU did not wield his hammer. The film showed his true worth as Led Zeppelin's electrifying Immigrant Song played along.

3. 12 Strong

This is where Chris Hemsworth went from a hammer-and-axe-wielding god to an assault rifle-brandishing Captain, who leads a team of soldiers against the Taliban. While they are on foot in most of the film, the scene when they are riding horses seemed unusual for an army saga as this. They literally fought tanks on horseback. But then, it actually happened, and that is why the original story is called Horse Soldiers by Doug Stanton. Of course, Black Ops II did that first on screen. Just saying.

2. Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga

First it was Mad Max: Fury Road, where everyone went bananas. Fire from guitars, scorching heat, chases in deserts — the works. Then came the spin-off, Furiosa. Dementus, Chris Hemsworth's character in the film, was a madman. More like a man-child. A man-child who thought of himself as a father figure to Anya Taylor-Joy's titular Furiosa.

1. Extraction

We can label this film a total game changer for the actor. Hemsworth plays Tyler Rake, a black ops mercenary tasked to save the kidnapped son of an Indian drug lord. The film's action scenes and the actor's performance were praised by the critics. A sequel to the film, Extraction 2, was received even better than the original by the critics.
