Toy Story 5: Everything we know so far about the upcoming installment of the animated franchise

Toy Story 5 is well into production, and this time things have gone advanced. It is the fifth mainline installment in the popular animated comedy franchise that began three decades ago and it's never going to get old for any generation because of its concept.

As of this writing, the film is set to be released next year. Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures will be distributing it and Pixar Animation Studios is producing it.

Eight actors have already been cast in the film and more are likely to be joining the crew in the future. Among the voice cast are Tom Hanks and Tim Allen, who have been in the lead since the franchise's beginning.

Earlier, Allen said the following about returning for the fifth film:

"It’s really, really weird to get back in it."

A teaser of the film was released, which gave us a glimpse into the story and the theme we are getting, which we will discuss here.

When will Toy Story 5 be released?

As of this writing, Toy Story 5 is set for a release on June 19, 2026.

It will be the only American film releasing on the day but there are some highly anticipated movies coming in the same month. This includes Masters of the Universe, Animal Friends, Power Ballad, Scary Movie 6, and Supergirl. Additionally, there's also an untitled Steven Spielberg film currently in development that is reported to be released in the month.

The cast of Toy Story 5

Eight actors have been confirmed to be in the voice cast of the film.

Tom Hanks will reprise his role as Sheriff Woody Pride. The actor has been involved since the beginning, appearing in all four films alongside Tim Allen. As for Woody, he is a pull-string doll, a cowboy, who had a special spot on Andy's bed.

Tim Allen will also reprise his role as Buzz Lightyear. He is the only character in the franchise to get a solo movie, Lightyear (2022), where Chris Evans lent his voice for the character. Buzz and Woody didn't begin on good terms but they became best friends by the first movie eventually.

Joan Cusack is another returning voice actor in Toy Story 5. She portrays Jessie, another of the main protagonists in the animated franchise. She becomes friends with Woody and other toys and eventually develops an attachment with Buzz.

The latest film in the franchise is focusing on the technological advancements that are becoming a part of today's children. We can already see in the trailer that the real toys are afraid of something that has arrived in a package. Turns out, it is a new companion of Andy's, a tablet computer.
