Michael Jai White's latest action comedy film, Trouble Man, is now playing in US theatres. The story revolves around a police officer (played by White) who gets involved in the investigation of a music icon's sudden disappearance that eventually turns out to be much bigger.
American Rapper Clifford Smith Jr, commonly known as "Method Man," is also a part of the cast alongside White and Friday After Next star Michael Elliot Epps.
Trouble Man had its early screenings at the American Black Film Festival in June this year, and ever since, there has been quite some social media buzz surrounding the upcoming comedy entry.
The official synopsis of Trouble Man, as per IMDb, reads:
"Jaxen, a former cop turned Atlanta PI, is hired to find missing R&B star Jahari. His investigation uncovers her disappearance is connected to a larger conspiracy, forcing him to question those around him and his own past."
What do we know about the story of Trouble Man?
The story of Trouble Man is in line with the title: A man who finds trouble in a high-stakes action-comedy. The plot centers on an ex-police officer (with an educational background in law) named Jaxed, who now heads the security system of one of his friend's pubs in Atlanta. However, despite leaving his past behind, Jaxen finds himself in trouble.
An R&B star named Jahari (played by La La Anthony, per Variety) goes missing, and Jaxen is brought on board to lead the investigation by an Atlanta PI. Unfortunately, our protagonist soon learns that this is not just a missing persons case but is part of a larger web of extortion.
The whole situation leaves Jaxen in a state of dilemma as he tries to figure out ways to solve the case. His work brings him in touch with a man named Money (portrayed by Method Man), Jahari's present love interest. As Jaxen goes on a wild goose chase with Money, he also wonders if all of it is, in some way, related to his past job.
