What is the plot of Finding Joy?

Finding Joy is about a designer named Joy who lives in New York City. She gets stranded in Colorado after going through a personally tumultuous period. There, she meets a guy named Ridge, and the two slowly fall in love with each other. The two first meet in the state where Ridge saves her life as she is stuck in a frozen lake.

How does Finding Joy end?

As the story of Finding Joy progresses, Joy finds out that Ridge's mother had passed away just a few days before Christmas two years ago. He tells her that his mother was also named Joy, and he has been working on rebuilding a quilt that she made once. Both protagonists met at the cabin where Ridge had been coming ever since the tragedy hit his family. While everyone in his family has moved on, Ridge still misses his mother and visits it to spend some time alone.

This has also distanced Ridge from the rest of his family. After falling in love with Joy, the latter helps him reconcile with the rest. Towards the end, Joy gets an opportunity to start her own fashion label. While she is initially reluctant, Ridge manages to convince her to go for her dreams.

This is his way of returning the favor as Joy stands by him and makes him overcome his fears and loneliness. Joy eventually agrees to work for the fashion label.

What really touches Joy is that he is also willing to give up his quite small town life to be with her in a big city like New York City. This is because she needs to be there to pursue her dreams. Towards the end of the film, the couple gets married.
