Tyrant is set to be a tour de force for the actors cast in the leading roles. After the Academy Award and Golden Globe-winning actor Charlize Theron expressed interest in the project, the high-stakes bidding war on it was fast-tracked, leading to Amazon MGM taking the coveted prize.

According to sources, the film is written from a story by Cody Behan and David Weil and is set to be placed in the high-end and high-stakes competitive scene of New York. The project comes in after the unprecedented success of FX with the culinary drama, The Bear.

Considering the final negotiation stages go through smoothly, Theron will be leading this project opposite another female role. Theron and Amazon MGM are currently on the lookout for the coveted position, set to be a magnificent and demanding role.

Theron is set to appear in prestigious projects such as Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey and a survivalist thriller film, Apex. She is also set to appear in a psychological thriller, Jane, which is loosely adapted from Philip K. Dick's life. Jane is set to be directed by Alfonso Cuaron, while Jack Thorne joins as the scriptwriter. Theron will also be a part of Two For The Money, a heist film by Justin Lin for Apple, which is set to start shooting next year.

All of these projects are in addition to Tyrant if the deal goes through.

Additionally, if the negotiation goes through smoothly, Theron will also be joining on as a producer with her production house banner, Secret Menu, with partners A.J. Dix and Beth Kono. David Weil will be joined by partner Natalie Laine Williams as producer. They will be joined by Alex Heineman and Andrew Rona for The Picture Company as producers and co-writers.

Tyrant is the second project that the writer has sold recently, after his deal with Miramax for Supermax, a project that he wrote with David J. Rosen. Supermax is set to be helmed by David Gordon Green.

There are no plot details available for Tyrant as of now.

However, stay tuned to Soap Central as we keep up with the latest updates on this project, including the co-star who will join opposite Theron.
