David Harbour's Nicomund the Red, aka Santa Claus, will be back in Violent Night 2. Not just him, but Tommy Wirkola, who directed the first film, is back in the director's chair too. The Hollywood Reporter first reported this, and their story also mentioned that the film is set to be released by the end of next year.
Wirkola brought a cold-blooded comedy before he directed Violent Night (2022) called Dead Snow (2009), and its a sequel in 2014. In addition to that, his work includes Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters (2013), What Happened to Monday (2017), Spermageddon (2024), and more.
The first movie in this Santa-focused series became a commercial success as it earned $76 million at the global box office against its $20 million budget. The film was also received well by the critics, as the film happens to have a 74% approval rating on the review aggregator platform Rotten Tomatoes.
When is Violent Night 2 releasing?

As noted by The Hollywood Reporter, Violent Night 2 is releasing next year on December 4, 2026. It wasn't really a surprise, given its Christmas theme. Although that is a tough choice, the studio has chosen, as three big movies are set to be released in the same month.
The film would have clashed with Avengers: Doomsday, which was shifted recently. From Chris Hemsworth to Robert Downey Jr., a lot of familiar faces are coming in this MCU crossover.
Then there's Dune: Messiah, the third chapter in Denis Villeneuve's Dune film series. We are likely to see Paul becoming the genocidal messiah, where his followers will be across the universe, bringing glory to House Atreides. Though it's not really glory as Paul sees it.
Finally, Shrek 5 is releasing on December 23, 2025. The last film in this animated series came out in 2010. Fans might be waiting to see their green protagonist return to the big screen.
Will Violent Night 2 be streaming instantly?
There's no official announcement if the film will be released instantly on a streaming platform. But Violent Night was soon made available for streaming on Peacock, so that, too, might be the case with the sequel.
What time will the film be released in the United States?

There's no detail on what time it will be released in the United States or elsewhere.
What is the film about?
While there's no synopsis on how this new story will be shaped, Wirkola had a chat with The Hollywood Reporter in 2022, and this is what he said regarding a potential sequel.
"We don’t see the North Pole, we don’t see Mrs. Claus and we don’t see the elves. There were also a few ideas that we loved in the script, but we had to cut them because we couldn’t afford to shoot them."
Like Tom Holland's Spider-Man, Santa was made public by Bert (Alexander Elliot), so the next film might have something to do with this.
