One Battle After Another, directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, stars Leonardo DiCaprio as a former revolutionary who gets back into another battle to help his estranged daughter. It's an action thriller, set to be released this Autumn. With DiCaprio in focus, the second trailer shows him finally speaking with his daughter.

Here's the clip:

The trailer opens to a shot of Bob (DiCaprio) assembling a bomb. Perfidia (Teyana Taylor) sits aside, listening to him explain his process. It seems to be a part of their past when Perfidia decided to use a similar bomb to create a show, to announce their revolution. With a bomb, the message will be loud and clear.

Earlier, in the first trailer, we learnt that Bob was part of a vigilante group, "French 75." He might have left it for personal reasons. However, years later, it comes back to haunt him as his arch-nemesis, Col. Steven J. Lockjaw (Sean Penn), hopes to settle the score. That leads Bob to desperately search for his estranged daughter, Willa (Chase Infiniti).

The new trailer of One Battle After Another takes us further into their complicated relationship. Let's unpack what it has in store for us.

What does the new trailer tell us about Bob and his daughter?

Bob seems to be hiding from the authorities after Perfidia was put behind bars. Years later, he finds himself in the same mess. It's also why he tries to find Willa. He wants to protect her, but unlike him or her mother, she may have no choice but to enter the battlefield.

Why did he not keep in touch with her? Because he did not want it to affect her. Maybe he didn't want her to be on the run like him, or maybe he didn't want to let her get into all this mess. He might have some regrets about what he did, but he still seems to be a revolutionary in spirit. So, even this time, we hear him shouting from the top of his lungs:

"¡Viva la Revolución!"

As it all happens, Beyonce's "Freedom" plays in the background. The clip ends with Kendrick Lamar's explosive rap verse.

Based on what we see, Bob seeks help from his former associate, Sensei Sergio (Benicio del Toro). Yet, it may not be just another violent display of action. Earlier, Bob seemed like someone who may not be quite right in his head. It brought humor to the mix, but the new trailer has a beating heart. It shows that the film is also a drama about a father trying to reconnect with his daughter.

It seems sweet, sincere, and something you would expect from a director like Paul Thomas Anderson.
