Ashley Tisdale's "Breaking Up With My Toxic Mom Group" essay is all over the internet, with users speculating it might be about politics. However, some believe it's about the celebrity moms she has been close with.

A spokesperson for the actress has reportedly denied these speculations. As per the spokesperson's statement reported by TMZ, these speculations do not have any basis, as they do not involve celebrities like Hilary Duff, Mandy Moore, and Meghan Trainor, which is what most people were thinking.

They reportedly added that she's a registered Democrat and her piece is not about politics either. They further clarified to TMZ that it was her experience with a 'toxic mom group' and that others are taking advantage of the situation to benefit from it.

How did the controversy surrounding Ashley Tisdale start?

Last week, The Cut uploaded an Instagram post, which was also shared by Ashley Tisdale. The caption of the post read:

"LEAVE YOUR TOXIC FRIENDS BEHIND YOU IN 2026, says @ashleytisdalefrench. For #ItsBeenAYear, the actress, beauty founder, and mother details dumping her mom group, where the bullying between women mirrored their children's playground antics."

The essay started with her own experience, where Ashley Tisdale revealed joining a mom group to get advice and share her feelings after the birth of her daughter, Jupiter Iris French.

She felt lucky at first to be in touch with these successful women who were also doing great in their careers and were also able to take care of their babies. She added that over time, she felt that she was being excluded from the group.

"I could sense a growing distance between me and the other members of the group, who seemed to not even care that I wasn’t around much. When everyone else attended a birthday dinner together, I was met with excuses as to why I hadn’t been invited. I still don’t get why I wasn’t at the girl hang that they all planned at my daughter’s birthday."

In the essay, she wrote that she confronted them about the same and was met with excuses. The essay ended on a note stating:

"Motherhood has enough challenges without having to wonder if the people around you are on your side. You deserve to go through motherhood with people who actually, you know, like you. And if you have to wonder if they do, here’s the hard-earned lesson I hope you’ll take to heart: It’s not the right group for you. Even if it looks like they’re having the best time on Instagram."

She soon received appreciation from her fans for standing up for herself. However, some users began speculating that she was indirectly talking about Hilary Duff and Mandy Moore. Another speculation also came, suggesting that the essay could be linked to politics.

However, it has been reportedly made clear by her representative that it's neither of those, and the essay is based on Ashley Tisdale's own experience with a mom group.
