Candace Parker, known as one of the greatest WNBA players of all time, had her No. 3 jersey retirement ceremony with the Los Angeles Sparks on Sunday, June 29, 2025, at the Crypto.com Arena. The ceremony was conducted during the game between the Los Angeles Sparks and the Chicago Sky, as reported by ESPN.

She had begun her journey with the Los Angeles Sparks in 2008 when she was selected as the first overall pick in the WNBA draft, and had then played 13 seasons in LA. She played two seasons with the Chicago Sky and one season with the Las Vegas Aces. As per Celebrity Net Worth, Candace has a net worth of $8 million.

More about Candace Parker's retirement ceremony

The two-time Olympic gold medalist, Candace, had her retirement ceremony on June 29, 2025. She will be the third Sparks player to have her jersey retired, following Lisa Leslie and Penny Toler.

Parker made a statement during her halftime speech at the ceremony. She said:

''I represent coming from a family that told me I could do and be anything. I'm really proud of that kid. I think I'd do things exactly the same way because it's why I'm sitting here. I made mistakes and took two steps forward and one back, but I was always moving forward.''

She continued:

''When I got drafted out here, it's become home. I've lived here longer than anywhere else. It's super important to see this jersey in the rafters before any others because my 13 years here were super special. It was ups, downs, wins, losses, heartaches and rewards but it's super special to share that with my teammates and coaches with an organization that bet on me with the first pick in the 2008 WNBA draft. That was a long time ago.''

On Sunday, Parker had entered the court during the first timeout of the Sparks vs. Sky game, and the arena had given her a standing ovation. Candace had initially announced her retirement back in April 2024 with a heartfelt Instagram post, in which she wrote:

''I’m retiring. I promised I’d never cheat the game & that I’d leave it in a better place than I came into it. The competitor in me always wants 1 more, but it’s time. My HEART & body knew, but I needed to give my mind time to accept it.''

The ceremony that was held on Sunday was the first of two jersey retirement ceremonies. The recent ceremony honored her 13 seasons with the LA Sparks, where she won her first WNBA title in 2016, and the second ceremony will be held in Chicago later this summer, where the Chicago Sky will retire her jersey for her contribution to their 2021 championship.
