Fans are demanding the return of Craig Ferguson after Jimmy Kimmel has been suspended indefinitely as the late-night host following his remarks about Charlie Kirk and U.S. President Donald Trump.
Social media platforms such as X (formerly Twitter) have been flooded with comments from netizens who want to see Ferguson as the new late-night host. They called him to revive shows such as The Late Late Show or replace Colbert on The Late Show.

For those unaware, Ferguson hosted CBS’s late-night talk show The Late Late Show from 2005 to 2014. He left the show because he “stopped enjoying it” and it became a “chore.”
Since the 63-year-old host began trending on social media, there has been a sudden surge of interest in his current activities among his fans. After his tenure on the show ended, Craig Ferguson has been performing as a stand-up comedian and touring the country with his sketches. He also hosts a podcast series called Joy, which began broadcasting in August 2023.

Fans demand the return of Craig Ferguson after Jimmy Kimmel's suspension
Fans who adored Craig Ferguson’s style of hosting are now demanding his return on television after Jimmy Kimmel’s indefinite suspension of his late-night talk show "Jimmy Kimmel Live!"
Here is what they think -
“With the cancelling of late night hacks like Colbert and Kimmel, we need Craig Ferguson to make his return,” a user said.
“Craig Ferguson was the most entertaining late night talk show host. He was funny. So was his robot,” another noted.
“I was lucky enough to be at the taping of one of his last shows. Craig Ferguson was one of the best late night hosts!” A third added.
“Reality is that late night TV has not been funny since Craig Ferguson left the stage. Long live drunk Scotsmen, m*st*rb*ting bears, gay robot sidekicks and Secretariat!” A fourth wrote.
However, a few others had a different opinion.
“No, he doesn't like President Trump. They need to get someone that's not political and just does good comedy. Reminiscent of Johnny Carson,” a person opined.
“If you think that Craig Ferguson or Conan O'Brien would have been any kinder to Trump, you weren't watching them. Hell, Conan made his feelings pretty clear when he won the Mark Twain prize,” another wrote.
While there has been a huge demand for Ferguson’s return to television, it is not confirmed whether he is willing to make a comeback. However, he filmed a pilot episode for a new late-night project, called Channel Surf with Craig Ferguson, in 2023 in the UK.
During the launch, Zack Hernandez, senior vice president of US syndication sales for Sony Pictures Television, said in a statement:
“With a shortage of sitcoms available for stations, viewers need a place to laugh. ‘Channel Surf’ is that perfect show. Craig is an extraordinary talent who has excelled in late night, daytime and primetime and has incredibly high awareness. Viewers know and love him. Craig shot a hilarious pilot, and we can’t wait to reintroduce our buyers to him and look forward to giving audiences a chance to watch this very funny show.”
The half-hour syndicated series was launched by Sony Pictures Television, according to Variety. However, the show was not aired despite being slated to debut in the fall of that year.
