Sean “Diddy” Combs and Donald Trump once shared a cordial relationship, as depicted in his praise for the rapper during his appearance on The Apprentice, where he called him a “good guy” and “good friend.”
Trump once indicated that he might consider a pardon for Diddy, but he made it clear recently that he is refusing to do so. According to a report in the Guardian, while appearing on Newsmax’s Finnerty, Trump called him “half-innocent.” The US President stated that although they were once “very friendly,” his dynamic shifted when he entered politics. He said that he has become “very hostile, which makes his pardon very difficult.”

In the past, Diddy has been a huge critic of Trump, especially during his presidency and the 2020 election period. In 2017, Diddy told The Daily Beast that he did not “really give a f**** about Trump.” And in 2020, he said on radio host Charlamagne tha God’s show that “white men like Trump need to be banished.” He called his way of thinking “really dangerous.”

All we know about Diddy and Donald Trump’s friendship and their fallout
Sean "Diddy" Combs and Donald Trump shared a high-profile and evolving relationship spanning decades. Their friendship dates back to the ‘90s, during which the rapper was gaining prominence as a music icon, and Trump was a real estate tycoon.
In 1998, the Bad Boys Records founder invited Trump to his birthday party. In the video invitation, Trump referred to the singer as “the legendary Puff Daddy.”
A report in the Deadline indicated that in 2006, Combs mentioned Trump in his We Gon’ Make It track, as a rich man who lived large. In 2015, Diddy praised him in an interview with The Washington Post and said:
“Donald Trump is a friend of mine, and he works very hard.”

However, by 2020, the relationship between Trump and Combs turned sour. In an interview with The Daily Beast, when Combs was asked to share thoughts on Trump as president, he said:
“I think that to be honest, we don't really give a f*** about Trump, because [black people are] in the same f*****-up position. So that's not what we're on. The tomfoolery that's going on in D.C., that's just regular everyday business to black folks. That's not surprising.”
Their friendship took a turn when Diddy went on to endorse Trump’s opponent Joe Biden in the 2020 presidential elections. He tweeted, saying:
“The NUMBER ONE priority is to get Trump out of office. HE HAS TO GO. We can't allow this man to continue to try and DIVIDE US. The people that have the most responsibility and should be SCARED TO DEATH of this man are white people. WE ARE ON THE VERGE OF A RACE WAR.”
He added:
“It would be irresponsible of me to have us hold our vote hostage, but it would also be irresponsible of me to just let this moment go by — the world is watching — and not do everything I can to make sure that, going forth, we are part of the narrative, that we own our politics”
He further said:
“We need to get Biden in and hold him accountable. Trump has taken things too far. As Black people, we aren't even a topic of real discussion. We can no longer stand for doing the same thing over and over expecting different results. That's insanity! It's time we unify.”
During that time, Combs also launched an organization called Our Black Party to create a platform, “that addresses the needs of Black people”.
Combs was found not guilty on three of the five charges, including sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy charges. However, he was convicted of two counts of "transportation for the purposes of prostitution". Each of these counts could land him 10 years in prison.
