The 50-year-old actress’ dazzling strapless outfit featured a classic metallic gown, which had a dramatic black train at the back. The golden strips on the front of her dress were arranged in a horizontal fashion, resembling an armour. The black fabric on the side of her dress created an hourglass shape.

Longoria completed her look with diamond earrings by Pasquale Bruni, a 18-karat rose gold Aleluiá Collier necklace, and a ring. She paired her outfit with gold heels. She shared a glimpse of her Cannes 2025 appearance on her Instagram as well as she arrived at the red carpet with Formula 1 driver Carlos Sainz Jr.

Eva Longoria has been a trendsetter at Cannes long before her recent appearance. Here is what to know.

When did Eva Longoria make her debut at the Cannes Film Festival?

Eva Longoria’s journey as a style icon at the Cannes Film Festival began with her debut in 2005. She walked the red carpet in a $39 shimmery gold knit halter dress she picked up off the rack in Los Angeles.

The dress had a plunging neckline and lace on the edges. Despite being a Hollywood newcomer at the time, her confident and budget-friendly fashion choice turned heads and became a talking point.

However, the Desperate Housewives star regrets that time because of her fashion choices, as she shared in an interview with InStyle magazine. She told the outlet in a February 2025 interview.

“The first time I went to the Cannes Film Festival sticks out. I went to Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles and bought a $39 dress because I was told I needed a dress. It looked amazing, and people were like, “Who are you wearing?” I thought, Why are they asking me that?”

She added,

“It was this gold knit dress and even L’Oréal” (whom the actress is an ambassador for” "were like, 'Maybe next time we style you.' I really didn’t understand the gravity of that red carpet.”

During that time, Eva Longoria had no idea what Cannes was all about. In her interviews, she recalled how she did not understand the significance of red carpet fashion or the importance of designer gowns at such high-profile events in her past.

She recalled in an interview with People Magazine how everyone present at the film festival during that time loved her dress. She said,

“I was like, it's just from Melrose!”

Even though she might have regretted wearing the dress because of her simple fashion choice back then, she has credited the experience as an important lesson in her evolution into a red carpet icon today.
