Puerto Rican rapper and record producer Bad Bunny reconciled with Colombian singer J Balvin at his final concert in Mexico over the weekend. The former called the latter on stage and together they spoke about leaving behind the past, planning their reunion, and shared mutual apologies for their alleged old feud. They also performed their iconic song La Cancion. For those unaware, Bad Bunny seemingly dissed J Balvin as a “people-pleaser” in his 2023 song Thunder y Lightning from the studio album Nadie Sabe Lo Que Va a Pasar Mañana, aka “Nobody Knows What Is Going to Happen Tomorrow.” It was a collaboration with trap/ reggae artist Eladio Carrion.“Thunder, Lightning, I’m a star, Ricky Martin/ you’ve seen me, all my songs are charting/ You’ve seen me, I always walk with the same people/ While you are friends of the whole world like Balvin,” the English translation of the original Spanish lyrics reads.Back then, J Balvin responded via Instagram Live. He said:“I think Bad Bunny is an excellent artist. The person I know is a great person. We supported each other mutually, we made history, and we also created a new story within music. I don’t understand what was going through his head, but well, the guy I know is a good person.”While neither confirmed a beef, the former collaborators stopped working together, with fans speculating that they were silently feuding. Now, in the wake of their public reconciliation, fans on both sides are rejoicing. Here are a few reactions from X.“I'm happy to hear this. I wasn't aware that they fell out,” a user wrote.“Peace [white heart emoji] life is too short,” another user wrote.“I can't believe it! My wish came true!” a fan wrote.Others continued to share similar excitement on Instagram.“We are so back,” another fan wrote.“We need that Oasis pt2 asap,” a netizen wrote.“ABSOLUTELY AMAZING AND HISTORICAL,” a person wrote.Fans react to Balvin and Bunny's reconciliation. Meanwhile, last week, J Balvin appeared on streamer Ibai’s livestream and shared he had buried the hatchet and was happy with how far Bad Bunny has come.“Now I’m not focused on being No. 1. I mean, now I’m happy with what’s happening with Benito, for example, with Bad Bunny… My struggle is no longer to be number one; my struggle is to have peace, to have tranquillity, and to continue making moves that help me leave a legacy,” Balvin stated. The Rayo artist continued:“I can celebrate it, and I can see it from a perspective that if I had seen it from the perspective of J Balvin from, I don’t know, six or five years ago? I would be banging my head against the walls. Now [I’m thinking] from a perspective of celebrating the success of my colleagues.”Before that, in April, J Balvin interviewed with El Pacha on El Vacilon de la Manana and mentioned he was focused on himself and had “nothing against Benito, one hundred per cent,” referring to Bad Bunny. At the time, the Colombian singer shared that although he wished he had met Bad Bunny at his Medellin concert, he was confident they would see each other “in a very genuine way” soon. While he cited that there was no reason for them to talk anymore, he suggested he only had love for Bad Bunny and gave a shoutout to the latter’s manager, Noah Assad, record label Rimas, and other team members of the Mia rapper.“There was a very beautiful moment when we created that Oasis team, awesome, a very cool album, historic, where you’d never heard a Colombian with a Puerto Rican. I celebrate Benito’s success. We don’t talk, but I think surely when we see each other, the vibe will be amazing. There’s no reason either,” Balvin concluded.Bad Bunny hasn’t spoken about his alleged beef with J Balvin in the last two years, nor has he confirmed whether his 2023 single took a jab at his former collaborator. While Bad Bunny wrapped up the final leg of his ongoing Debi Tirar Mas Fotos World Tour in Mexico, he’ll return with his stops in Chile in the new year. Over the eight shows, artists such as Feid and Julieta Venegas also accompanied him as guest performers.Meanwhile, J Balvin concluded his Back to the Rayo Tour earlier this year that spanned across 27 cities in the USA and Canada.
