Barry Manilow has postponed some of his performances after giving out his latest health update. It has been confirmed that the medical treatment the artist requires will force him away from the stage.

The 82-year-old Grammy Award-winning singer said he found out through a precautionary checkup that doctors found a malignant area in his left lung, which doesn't need chemotherapy.

Barry Manilow said that the diagnosis was the result of six weeks of illness due to bronchitis, followed by a relapse that lasted for five weeks. He had recovered, was back performing at the Westgate Las Vegas, but was advised by his physician to undergo an MRI because his physician wanted to check if everything was all right.

This scan showed that there is a cancerous growth that must be surgically excised. Barry Manilow explained that early detection came about as a result of proper medical attention and timing. There are no complications expected in recovering from the surgery.

Manilow will not be singing in January because of his surgery. Some concerts that are set to happen in January have been postponed because of this. The artist issued a statement apologizing to his fans, saying that he and his entire organization looked forward to the concerts, but he is now changing his plans.

Already, new dates for the performance have been announced. Fans who had purchased tickets for the January event would be able to attend the new event using the same tickets.

Messages of encouragement soon filled up the comments section as people welcomed the singer to wish him well and encouraged him to prioritize his health instead. Others referred to the singer as a beloved performer. Manilow is hopeful that he will return to the stage once he has completely recovered. For now, he says that he will make rest his top priority as he gets ready for surgery
